Plotting courses for AIM-120. Is that even possible?

Wikibedia says:
After launch, if the firing aircraft or surrogate continues to track the target, periodic updates—such as changes in the target's direction and speed—are sent from the launch aircraft to the missile, allowing the missile to adjust its course so that it is able to close to a self-homing distance where it will be close enough to "catch" the target aircraft in the basket (the missile's radar field of view in which it will be able to lock onto the target aircraft, unassisted by the launch aircraft).

So there's a data link there, but I don't think you should be able to manually change the course. It sounds more like the weapon should have a greater likelihood of hitting if you can keep your aircraft in a position to feed updated target data to the missile.

The plot was 180 degrees away from the target.

What about the air launched torpedoes, that can currently be steered, too?

No need to post one, just put a ASW helo in a scenario with a sub beneath it, launch the torpedo on the sub and move the activation waypoint around. I tried it with a Mk46.

Not altogether pointless. I've managed to score hits this way.

I'd like if all launched weapons without datalinks became just ordinary contacts, like it is in Harpoon. So they would be ambiguous or even disappear if not illuminated by a radar.
