The Unsung Heroes of FPC:RS

The new Cold War turned hot wargame from On Target Simulations, now expanded with the Player's Edition! Choose the NATO or Soviet forces in one of many scenarios or two linked campaigns. No effort was spared to model modern warfare realistically, including armor, infantry, helicopters, air support, artillery, electronic warfare, chemical and nuclear weapons. An innovative new asynchronous turn order means that OODA loops and various effects on C3 are accurately modeled as never before.

The Unsung Heroes of FPC:RS

Post by Mad Russian »

It's easy to find Rob's work. He coded the game you are playing.

It's easy to find Jim's work. He put the combat models together, created the graphics, did the data base.

It's easy to find my work. I created most of the scenarios and all the maps.

What you don't see is Charles work. That's because Charles simply played what the rest of us created. He gave direction to the Playtesters and incessantly ran tests on anything and everything to make sure that it worked as advertised.

This game would be far less than what you see here today without his efforts.

What you also don't see for is the Playtesters efforts. They put in a lot of time on the game. They have also been working to create things for the game.

Beachinnole has a scenario he created that is released in the game and Plodder will have a major scenario/campaign event released by the end of the week.

I would just like to say thanks to them for all their hard work as well. Without it we absolutely wouldn't be here today!!! [&o] [&o] [&o]

Their ongoing efforts are already being felt in coming content for you guys. So you can enjoy the efforts of the entire team. [8D]

Thanks for the hard work. Unpaid and leading a real life too. Lots of effort and discipline needed.

Thanks for all the work and for the work you are still putting in. I know we complain alot about making things better, but as you have mentioned often before, at a certain point the game must be released. The few small minor hiccups will be solved I sure, making the game even better.

Ah, but you have a lovely singing voice Jim. Living 600 miles away as I do I freely encourage you to burst out in song whenever you like!

Seriously, Charles and the playtesters did an outstanding job. It is a finely balanced act to keep up a stream of solid bug reports and feature requests without overdoing it and hopelessly jamming up the works (experience talking here). He quickly developed a sense of what was feasible in a general way and was the constant diplomat when my coding responses were less than stellar. All that plus good game design sense too. Thanks Charles!

We had some extremely astute playtesters too. After a few years of development a developer can develop blind spots and good playtesters poke these with a stick. It hurts in the short run but is invaluable in the long run. If I had a dollar for every little thing about the game I thought was "done" and then redid because a tester convinced me otherwise, well I would probably have a comma in that number. Thanks to all of them going back to 2005.

Cheers, Rob

Many thanks for this great game !
Hope it will be a huge commercial success. It's definitely fully deserved.
