Screen order

The new Cold War turned hot wargame from On Target Simulations, now expanded with the Player's Edition! Choose the NATO or Soviet forces in one of many scenarios or two linked campaigns. No effort was spared to model modern warfare realistically, including armor, infantry, helicopters, air support, artillery, electronic warfare, chemical and nuclear weapons. An innovative new asynchronous turn order means that OODA loops and various effects on C3 are accurately modeled as never before.

Screen order

Post by guderian68 »

Hi to all,

Yesterday I played throught AS11 Bravo scenario. I put 3 company of infantry in improved position north-east of Michelback with screen order.
On first turn 5 units of soviet attack elicopter appeared and moved from Neuces to Alzenau passing in the middle of my units.
A great number of my units start to move (as for screen order) and leave from improved positions, distrupting all my defense and taking a lot of losses from elicopters since moving in the open.....

I didn't expect that behaviour since I thinked that ground units with screen order start to "screen" only against other ground unit. Or at least it seems more realistics to me.

what do you think about that?

You have to give them a 'hold' order if you want them to stand the ground, as far as I have understood.
If you give them a 'screen' order they move away if they are threatened to keep a certain distance. But I might be wrong.

right, but the idea is to "screen" against advancing enemy troops and "cover and hide" when an enemy helo is hovering around

The larger changes of refinned waypoint orders won't be in the first couple "bug" fix patches since it required extensive coding and testing. Small things like screen move to better cover versus bailing on range versus helicopters is more likely in the short term.
OTS is looking forward to Southern Storm getting released!
