Activation Test

Civil War 2 is the definitive grand strategy game of the period. It is a turn based regional game with an emphasis on playability and historical accuracy. It is built on the renowned AGE game engine, with a modern and intuitive interface that makes it easy to learn yet hard to master.
This historical operational strategy game with a simultaneous turn-based engine (WEGO system) that places players at the head of the USA or CSA during the American Civil War (1861-1865).

Activation Test

Post by Michael T »

Each turn, each Stack commanding officer makes a test based on his Strategic
Rating

Can anyone tell me what the nature of the test is?

Eg what are chances of a leader with a SR of 4 as opposed to a SR of 2 or 6.

TIA

Just think of a six sided dice, although this is a simplification. Odds are about the same as a dice roll.
A two level, 2 in 6. A 4 a one in 6 and etc.

You can dig deeper, but this is the essence.

So does that mean a 6 SR will always pass?

No as with the 'to hit' mechanism, your chance of activation is always less than <100, so a 6+ leader can go inactive. A good place to check out how this works is in Narwhal's old RoP AAR - 'Learning from Prussia'. Use the index to find the beginner's corners - unfortunately its still on the Paradox AGEOD AAR page (& I fear will be lost one day)
