Good god Nick thats a work of art my friend.

I thought the game would have used some sort of symbol set that was all linked to a Terrain effect mechanic..so you just had to alter the symbol set and all the maps would then use the new symbols..is this not the case?

No, this is not the case for the moment,
the engine use a graphic file in png, not a system of tiles .....
But I am currently trying to create an editor with tilesets Maps based on graphics used in my reworked map.....

When i apply the mod see how works the map art part... really, is this an easy way to mod a game??? to be a "game easy to mod" doesnt look easy to mod [8|]

Is easy create maps but have a standarized map art ...

Hexagon,

I don't think the phrase "easy to mod" was ever said by any of us. Mod Friendly has been stated. Basically saying we have opened access to everything a player would need to generate various items like artwork, sounds, maps, scenarios, data, and whole modules basically. Most modding takes a bit of work. Nothing in the gaming universe is free. [;)]
OTS is looking forward to Southern Storm getting released!

Very true. Being mod friendly and modder friendly is not the same as easy to mod. I haven't done a mod yet that didn't take alot of time and work..even simple things have take me hours.

Nick you might want to think about hosting the files at a different site. That site your file is on set off a ton of malware alarms on my computer when I failed to notice the checkbox that downloads the sites download manager.

Thanks for the great efforts on the map!

I got malware warnings also. Mediafire is good site to use, I've never had problems with it. And also why the re-package using rar? Every Windows user can use .zip natively but you need a 3rd pary-program to use rar.

Well, i understand it bad (language problems hehehe), but i feel surprised when i see the map art in game, i expect see terrain separate of map (a file with terrain types or a file for every terrain type) not see that terrain and maps are the same files where you need mod over maps.

Mod never is easy but are games that offer a much better "Lego" structure, you change a piece not the full construction, i dont know if when you create a map every terrain hex receive a number or something to mark an hex as "swamp" or "clear" or "field", if this is how works why dont create a folder where you can put this terrain in separate files???

I know that i sound like a [:@] guy but when i like/love something i use "who loves you will make you cry" rule [:'(]

And again great job Nick69, i expect On target sign up you for the next thing they do for FC serie, is great but with your art is superb

Hexagon,

The modding guide and supporting OTS map art and hexdraw templates should release with the update next week and make it possible to do maps like we did. We have stated before in posts that the maps are just an image file that can be modified.

Who knows .... if Matrix Games offered me to buy all my maps lol .... .....

Yes why not, seriously? If a man can create beautiful maps, why not pay him to do it and sell it as a DLC or something like that?

It's not my business, just a crazy thought.. [8D]

I use Dropbox for my files, it works very good.
I'd like to try some mods for this in the future.
I'm afraid to purchase at the present because i'm really busy and this game looks like it could be very addictive.

map "Red Storm Fulda Gap" for this first trial .....
To follow other maps in this new style ....

Jeezus ... that is superb. I must admit - the game is fantastic - but I was struggling with the map art. These make it an order of magnitude greater.
Thanks for your work.

Smart man. This game is very addictive. One more turn becomes 4 or 5 before you can blink. [&o]
