RE-BALANCING

Post by operating »

Re-balancing;

Is there a way to disband units from the Production Panel, that are ready for deployment, but have no place to deploy, (And more than likely will not have an opportunity to deploy, in the near future, on)? I realize that units that are in development can be eliminated from the Production Panel. An owning player should be able to salvage the PP from these deployable units, instead of having them left in Limbo, for no other purpose, other than being useless, while using up PP, and being a drag on NM (sounds like a government employee). Being a Commander, one should have the opportunity to make stratergy changes in this game.

Done this before; placed a deployable unit from the Production Panel on the map, then disband it next turn or later. Or, When a friendly country goes neutral, (take Belgian for instance), my Entente units are returned to the Production Panel, where upon my next turn, they can be placed on the map, then immediately be disbanded or move immediately when placed on the map, in some cases.

Having units that cannot be disbanded in the Production Panel, is wrong, IMHO, Those men should be allowed to go home, until called up later if need be.

Maybe the easiest answer, is simply don't build something, unless you are 100% sure you will be needing it, as soon as it is ready to deploy, think very carefully, before committing valuable resources to production![;)]

Yes, at the time of build (strategy), there were hexes available to deploy in without ZOC from my archenemy. FOW hid enemy units that moved into position around and near my cities, preventing deployment from the production panel. Conventional thinking would be that, that strategy did not work, OK. Then as the Commander I should be able to change my strategy, to disband built units (now miscalculation), to pursue another strategy. Let's put it this way; Do you want to carry excess baggage if you don't need it? Of course you don't! Neither would Commanders of that time period or commanders of today have done so.

I should add this; I think it was true in WW1, that units were disbanded, to be used as replacements to fill-in other units. Again, why should not the units in the production panel be used for this purpose?....
