My dream for handling air to air combat

Post by pinky »

I'm aware you folks are working on this, but it keeps rattling about my brain so I figure I'll post it to let others have at it..[:D].

The current agility modifiers are a half measure - better than nothing, but at the moment ones that only see the glass half full (sorry if that came off harsh). As already suggested, the first step would be temporarily decreasing agility scores after every successful dodge. That alone would be tremendous (and I think you're already trying to implement that, right?).

The next step would be tying agility scores to the status of the aircraft, preferably with the status accounting for whether or not the a/c is loaded or not. As it stands right now, if I turn off the 'auto-evade' the missile still has the same odds of striking as if I had let the aircraft maneuver, as the agility score is fixed. Instead, if possible, lower all the base a/c agility scores, and then allow for the various statuses to add or subtract points. Thus 'engaged defensive' or 'engaged offensive' would add agility points, but just following the waypoint would leave the a/c more vulnerable.

If the status/agility tie works, the next piece up would be adding whether the a/c is fully loaded or not. If would probably have to cue off individual loadouts (sorry ragnar or whomever would do that...). Thus, statuses would now become "Engaged defensive - loaded" or "Engaged defensive - clean" or simply "Loaded" if flying by waypoint. The loaded/clean status like the previous idea would simply modify the agility score. This would require the option to dump ordinance, but would be amazing.

Much thanks for the game and all your work guys [&o]

I think that is an awesome idea... but of course I just play it and wouldn't have to implement it :) But if I was guessing those guys would think it is cool too, so it would be more a matter of if it can be done, than a matter of whether they like it or not.
