Syrian OB

Post by bsq »

In another thread someone mentioned about a series of escalating scenarios involving Syria. So I thought I would have a look at the stock OB and see if an accurate OB for Syria could be modeled.

I am now trying to build a Syrian OB for a 2013/2014 timeframe Strike, but there is a lot of stuff missing or not assigned to Syria...

My understanding is that if I build say a Syrian SA-5 site and I want to add point defence, I can add SA-8 no issues, because there is a pre-built half battery of SA-8's for Syria. But now I want to add ZSU-23-4 to fill in the gaps. There is no Syrian ZSU-23-4 and the closest I can get in terms of time frame (and therefore Mod state) is a half battery of Russian ZSU-23-4 - but I am led to believe from other threads in here that to use a Russian unit is to use one that is modeled to be 'better' than the exported and foreign operated units.

So here is that site modeled...

So to start the list, I would like to have (when possible):

SYRIA - ZSU-23-4

Any idea what the difference is between a Syrian ZSU-23 and the vanilla russian variant? You may want to check other client states to see if it has the configuration you would like as well. We'll get the Syrian variant in but don't think anybody will be posting a an hour video on how BSQ's Shilka's are really Egyptian[:)] Well least you wouldn't think so[:'(]

The Shilka is so bare bones it can barely be downgraded for export...[:D]

Nah, you're thinking of the ZU-23. If it was any more basic it would throw stones at aircraft instead of gun rounds.

Doesn't the Shilka mount the 23?

Two pairs of them, firing alternately.

My understanding is that the game database downgrades it. Models the lesser skill of the foreign operators.
This is the issue I was trying to address. Given how relatively deadly it is to aircraft that have to overfly targets, I just didn't want to make it too hard.

Don't think so, as of Build 446
