Close combat turned read only

Post by BlunderBoy »

Hi

I just bought Panthers in the fog and Last stand Arnhem trough Matrix games download section. But when i install both games, the directory they are installed to is turned Read only. And i am unable to unflag it.

I also installed CC5:Invasion Normandy prior to LSA and PitF, and been playing for the last few weeks. But this too seems to have become read only, probably indicating that the folders have been manipulated in some way after installing the newer games. The message that pops up on screen is the following: "The application directory is read only" and i have to change its flags.

I have tried most tricks in order to turn of the read only flags. User rights, CMD prompts, Security level, turning if virus protection, no dice.

So, anybody know anything about this problem?

It seems the games didn't install under the Admin account in Windows. Locate the folder where the files reside. In Windows OS, you should be able to "right click" on the Desktop Icon, then select, "Open File Location". Within this folder should be a file titled "Autorun". "Right Click" on this file and select "Run as Administrator". Use the same procedure for the other game. Hopefully this should resolve your issue.

The install program wouldn't do this, but Windows might have. Are you seeing an error message for Panthers in the Fog as well as CC5 / Last Stand Arnhem?

What version of Windows are you running on? I'd suggest checking the Microsoft support website as I know each of them has their quirks in terms of read-only directories and how to manage them yourself.
