Unable to change airspeed when RTB
Sorry if this has been posted before.
You can't seem to manually override throttle setting for a/c that are RTB.
This is bad because sometimes you want your a/c to get the Hell outta there fast after, say, unloading a few Kh-22's past a busy hornet's nest full of MiG-29's, hell-bent on extracting vengeance.
I suppose I could use "U" to un-assign the a/c from the RTB "mission", speed them up, and then try to remember to RTB/land them later. But I'd much rather just tell them to RTB - but at a much higher "bug-out" speed.

RE: Unable to change airspeed when RTB
Agreed and I want that feature also.......
But By Grace Go I.......
RE: Unable to change airspeed when RTB
Agree, i would also like to have an override bingo fuel option, when i decide that the mission is more important then 1 aircraft.

RE: Unable to change airspeed when RTB
You can unassign from an RTB. Hit u
RE: Unable to change airspeed when RTB
I know, but i don´t want them to RTB in the first place in such a case, so that i don´t have to watch them.
It would require less micromanagement to have an option.
It´s just an idea, would be nice to have, but not at all important.

Ok a similar issue: You can't alter an a/c's airspeed when it's on a mission. This is not good because a few times where I really needed my guys to light off the burners and intercept some bogies, they just leisurely proceeded to cruise (too slow) and only managed to intercept the enemy after they unloaded their ordnance. They could've caught them easily beforehand if they'd simply sped up. To get them to going, I have to hit "U" to unassign, then manually give them waypoints with override throttle position. Even if I unassign them and then tell them to auto-attack with "F1", you're back to being unable to adjust throttle again. Not good.
Right now, the only way to retain throttle control is to ensure the flight isn't assigned to any mission or intercept/auto-attack.
Mike, what would be the best way to show this stuff? Short YouTube vid? Or just write out the steps and what happens?
Just want my moaning and groaning to be as efficient as possible

Erich, doesn't manual override (on throttle/alt) do just that?

RE: Unable to change airspeed when RTB
No, it doesn't work for aircraft!
Any time I assign an a/c to either a Mission or to an F1 "Auto-Attack", I can no longer adjust throttle.
When you click on "Manual Override", it just immediately un-checks the box and you're back to auto-throttle.
I have to completely unassign them from anything to get throttle control back.
I can whip up a quick YouTube vid to show this, but it's easy to try it yourself. Just assign an a/c group to a mission, then try to adjust their throttle.

You've unchecked the "Ignore plotted course when attacking" option, right?
(Sorry if that's too obvious but have to cover all the bases...)

Oh, sheesh. That worked. Now, that makes no darn sense to me
Tell me what the "Ignore plotted course when attacking" option really does. Why does it interact with the ability to manually adjust throttle?
Anyway, thanks for being the only dev team to fix my issue in - what was it? - 5 minutes tops?

In this case, "Ignore plotted course" really translates to "completely disregard any plotted course and any throttle/alt commands you've been given, and just go get that b@stard!".
It's a bit too long to fit on the menu so... [:D]

I vote for "Just go get the bastard"
So, if I have an a/c unit on an AAW Mission, and they're intercepting the right guys but at the wrong speed, I can just uncheck "Just go get the bastard" and throttle them up? I'm assuming they'll change their course to reflect the new speed, correct?
Put another way, how would you do this? Many times, I'll have a unit on CAP, then I'll see an intruder and want to make damn sure my guys get the bastard (so to speak lol). What's the preferred way to do this?

I'll definitely check "ignore plotted, [...]", as doing this will unleash the crew AI to do all their little tricks which are tedious by hand (e.g. go high and fast prior to launching a BVR missile, keep with the target during a dogfight, engage multiple targets in a row etc. etc.)

RE: Unable to change airspeed when RTB
Once I get this all figured out, I am definitely doing a comprehensive gameplay tutorial, starting with AAW. Like I said in my review, CMANO is a bit like learning a language. The "letters" of said language are fairly simple - but the art is in how you can combine them to produce something quite lovely and complex.
To do that, you have to know what this and that "switch" does, and in what situation (sort of like punctuation/capitalization). It's tremendously entertaining when you get it right, and frustrating when you don't.
I often have that strange feeling that I will still be learning about this "game" in 10 years.
