Ready Aircraft

If an aircraft lands at base and has "winchester" writing in red as status, is it no longer available?
Im not able to give it another load-out?

Ive noticed on the aircraft ready page that Im not able to load it out but . . . If I go to mission editor and select same aircraft it will let me ready it (provided its weapons are in the magazine) I can also use the mission editor to ready "maintenance/unavailable" aircraft also. This doesn't seem right.

What is the reason for the "winchester/not available" status? I understand the maintenance part.
