Amphibios

The new Cold War turned hot wargame from On Target Simulations, now expanded with the Player's Edition! Choose the NATO or Soviet forces in one of many scenarios or two linked campaigns. No effort was spared to model modern warfare realistically, including armor, infantry, helicopters, air support, artillery, electronic warfare, chemical and nuclear weapons. An innovative new asynchronous turn order means that OODA loops and various effects on C3 are accurately modeled as never before.

Amphibios

Why cant the sov APC/MICV cross rivers without bridge? The terrain of europé was one of the reasons why most WP vehicles are swim capable. I agree they need a good Place to go down and up, any Place wont do.

new tile with river crossing with amphibs possible?

They can give them movement orders to the other side of the river and they will cross.

The answers to this and the rest of your questions are in the manual. [:)]

The numerous streams included in most of the game's maps pose no real obstacle to modern fighting vehicles. Oh well, guess I just need to make some maps or something to suit my taste.[:D]

They will go least costly route. If there is a bridge open they will use that rather than try to make an ampib crossing.

I think that is needed a force cross order because many times you want cross the river not using the bridge... i think in a flank attack because the bridge is heavy defend.

Maybe when you put a waypoint in an hex with water obstacle you can edit the waypoint to mark it as a cross river point and you can set then a new waypoint in the hex you want the unit appear when cross the river you can click on unit and leave game calculate the route.

The preparation time is exactly the same for crossing by amphibious movement as it is to build a bridge.

I was thinking about a map in winter (snow). Would the game be able to handle such weather conditions ?

I have been collecting winter looking graphics too. Will have to see what changes would have to be made to cover winter weather.

Sorry but that doesnt make any sense, unless you have a bridge laying vehicle, which isnt in the game

crossing a river with amphibs shouldnt take hours. 30-60 min tops

Yes, it's well known that the combat engineering aspect of the game has been highly abstracted. That's exactly what it means. That there is a bridge laying tank in the column if you give a build bridge order. Takes 30 minutes.

If you give an amphibious assault order it takes them 30 minutes to execute it.

Combat engineering will get a face lift in the future. At the moment that's the way it is.
