Alright! Call me stupid, ugly and a complete nincompoop! But I don't get this joke at all. The Danish boy and the Swedish boy vs the doormats at Ikea?? I simply have no clue where the joke's at?

Anyone 1/100th smarter than me can explain please........driving me BANANAS!!!!

Apparently, the Swedes running Ikea have named some of their product lines (doormats, specifically) after Danish geographic locales. It would be similarly affrontery were some Chinese manufacturers to sell doormats labelled "Detroit" or "Cleveland" in the United States. Actually, I'd buy a "Nashville" doormat this week. Just so I could think of someone that I'm going to crush in Fantasy Football. [;)]

Just be sure that "doormat" doesn't get pulled out from under you and you don't fall on your bum... [:D]

You should know that we've actually had plans on going to the Falklands with some classes on the Defense College, studying the operation from all aspects Air/Naval/Land. Luckily, the plans has always failed due to the lack of, ah, "comfortable", traveling options available [:D][;)]

Oh, gimme a break Per. A Swede thinks the Falklands might be "uncomfortable"? After Stockholm in February ? Granted they are an absolutely flat, f*cked up, tree-less plain of islands, usefull for raising sheep and fall squash vegetables, but Dude ... there's nowhere to ski !! And they ain't got surf !! [8D]

[ed] well ok, there's some decent holding ground East of Port Stanley airport, out towards Cape Pembroke. But even Southern Ocean sailors won't drop in.

I think you misread me - the weather and climate is no problem at all. It's the trip there with 40+ students/teachers that's a little forbidding [;)]

For some strange reason, whenever this kind of discussion on where we should go and what operation to examine on site crops up, general opinion usually points to Sicily/Salerno or Crete instead ... [:D]

Starting the week with Thursday night football. I'll be taking the Panthers and giving 6.5.

Dixie, are you getting out? When?

Not soon! Jan 2016 is my official endex as things stand, my last day in work would be approx 2 years from now. I may be able to sign on for another three years to 2019, but I'm not convinced it's what I'd want. The big opportunities for cool stuff would be 2018 if I was still on BBMF. But for that to happen I'd still be the same rank I am am now, and three more years as an SAC(T) is not career progression. I can start my resttlement training in January though, so two years of thinking about what I'm going to do with myself.

Penguins don't surf!

Apart from the wind I found the Falklands quite pleasant in December. Of course, I get to go in the UK summer instead this time so it'll be colder and windier. Ho-hum.

Get yourself down there Per, there's some great wildlife opportunites you don't get in Crete!

So, how many years will you have if you get out in 2016? Enough to draw a retirement? I'm retiring next July, the soonest I can after this deployment. 26 years for me. The last 6 or so haven't been much fun. I'm ready to move on, and grow a beard. [:D]

12 years at that point, I'd be entitled to half the full RAF pension when I reach retirement age. I've had some good times, but now any other post would be a step down. But staying on BBMF means I'd be an SAC(T) still. I.e. a nobody!
