I would try to hold all you can east.........only because as your other game shows, once 1943 arrives, Russia will just start steam rolling you. I hope you meant attacking in 1942 instead of 1943, as we both know you will be crashing into the beast with little hope. If I was your opponent, I would not even launch a blizzard attack, I would just sit there and dig, let you break your teeth on high fort levels for no gain. I faced that way back after release, I lost more German troops trying to crack his line than if I would have faced a all out blizzard attack.

It looks like he would only save a few hexes of depth. Not worth the atrocious toll of blizzard defense IMO. My vote would be to retreat to the shortest available non blizzard zone.

There is nothing to be gained by standing inside the Blizzard zone, but a lot to be lost there. So I am running out of the blizzard during this winter (I am only giving up a handful of cities anyway).
As to a fort levels, well the USSR is already behind lvl 3 forts, so not much will change in that regard.
And also, that is what I have been facing in the last two games anyway, so that is not much of a change hehe. The reason to try to attack in -43 if possible is that it keeps the Axis on the offensive another 6 months or so, which means 6 months less for the USSR to push me around.

Yup, will form a line 1 hex behind the Blizzard border, so that the USSR cannot stay within the blizzard zone and get the freebie CV divider on my units attacking.

Turn 25

Overall
Blizzard. A few units might actually end up getting trapped by the USSR, but if they do, we are taking regiments, not divisions. Oh, and the odd Rumanian unit ofc... 8MP simply does not cut it during a retreat in Blizzard.
The USSR launched 2 attacks, and scored a held against the Fins and a retreat against the....Rumanians...

Casualties
USSR : 17.000 troops, 37 guns, 16 AFVs, 56 AC.
Axis : 15.000 troops, 26 guns, 15 AFVs, 13 AC.

Partisans
We killed all 4.

German Pools
Manpower : 0
Vehicles : 135.739
Armaments : 115.135

Axis : 76.000 troops, 110 guns, 25 AFVs, 5 AC.

Partisans
We retreated all 3 to death.

Turn 27

Overall
Same old same old, the USSR attack where they can, and we run westwards. In two turns all units should be out of the Blizzard zone.

Casualties
USSR : 23.000 troops, 37 guns, 167 AFVs, 67 AC.
Axis : 92.000 troops, 186 guns, 22 AFVs, 3 AC.

Partisans
We retreated into all 4.

reading this sequence puts me in mind of the old Freddie Kreuger films - you have a stalker who can't quite catch you?

Turn 28

Overall
More running west, apart from that, nothing. The USSR launches 3 attacks and score 1 retreat and 2 rout against the brave Rumanians.

Casualties
USSR : 24.000 troops, 48 guns, 17 AFVs, 69 AC.
Axis : 73.000 troops, 53 guns, 11 AFVs, 2 AC.

Partisans
We retreated into both of them.

German Pools
Manpower : 0
Vehicles : 124.661
Armaments : 155.114
Hiwi : 78.506
Hmmm, the Hiwi increase per turn seems to hold despite losing some manpower centres...

Hiwi come from your prisoner totals IIRC, not manpower centers. IIRC, it is a percentage of your prisoner hauls.

Thought USSR MP centres had to do with it as well?

Was to me as well, but someone stated so in one of the threads. And I do not really take a lot of prisoners when I retreat...

It's a mix if I understand it correctly. Prisoners and manpower centers.
Hiwis are generated from captured men. 8% of captured manpower will go into a Hiwi pool. Also, captured manpower centers in the Soviet Union produce 10 men for each captured point (theater production limits and damage to manpower centers apply).
Formula Change - Changed the amount of Hiwis generated each turn from captured Manpower centers from 10 to 3. This was done to counteract the impact of a bug fix involving Hiwi generation. Also, it should be noted that manpower generation from cities is reduced by the percentage of German production that is being sent to the Western Front.

Correct. U get both from holding MP centers after 1942 IIRC and from PoWs.

Hence the huge push to snag prisoners as German in 1941. I go for all I can snag.
