looking for a game

the release of Flashpoint got me wishing for a strategic or operational NATO Warsaw pact game
something like GDW's the third world war series. I even broke open my copy of that game, i have the whole series, and pondered setting it up.
2 cats and a 60lb 5 month old Newfoundland puppy make that impossible well maybe just extremely frustrating

is there anything PC based that matches the scale of that series

TOAW3. Lots of scenarios out there.

Yeah, one of my fav scenarios that I'll never forget in all of wargaming was one in TOAWIII called "Flashpoint 1976" (I think). Incredible detail. Great for PBEMs! Me and some Finnish guy several years ago around Xmas time were both loitering online and we spent about a whole weekend alternating sides and beating up on each other and turning Europe into a nuclear wasteland [:D]

If only TOAWIII had _slightly_ better graphics (say along the lines of Civ 3 or the Crown of Glory series) would be a basically perfect strategy game. I know the 'purists' like those minimalists graphics but they just eventually wear on me and I can only play TOAW III for so long before.

ADDIT: Oh! another one I nearly forgot (hope this isn't bad form on Matrix site) is the Supreme Ruler Cold War and/or Supreme Ruler 2020. Both excellent games.
