Dead laptop, would like to re-download....

Post by DSwain »

Hello

My old laptop died and I've finally now got a new laptop. I have the serial key for my registered Matrix games (including WITP AE) but I can't find the original email with the download link anywhere. The actual game exe and everything is on my old laptop and so, unreachable. Can I redownload in some way without having to buy the game again?

thanks!

"My orders" in the Members area should solve your problem

Thanks for the advice. Sadly, couldn't find any record of my earlier download; old credit card used (subsequently stolen, couldn't remember the last 5 digit) so DIgital River couldn't help. So,ended up buying WITP Admiral again. Oh well, it's worth it.

Burn it to a disk, copy it to a flash drive, spend an extra $10 for a hard copy in addition to your download.....don't make the same mistake again.

+1, I always copy the download to either a cd if it fits or to a flash drive which are very cheap insurance.

Too late now but you should have talked to Matrix staff to see if they could sort it out ... oh well - live and learn and $$$

In a cruel twist, my laptop died barely a week after my flash drive suffered a mechanical failure (well,no fix has fixed it yet and it appears that something has shorted). I hadn't got off my arse and bought a new external drive to back stuff up before the laptop died. Nightmare! Well,I'm now using 2 external drives to back stuff up. Thanks for the advice, all - hard lessons And sadly the postal service where I currently live (Vietnam) is pretty poor, I wouldn't trust it to deliver the hard copy! Still, nice to have the game back again. It's only money ;)

I have 3 copies of the install files. One on an old CD somewhere which I burned and then one on my computer and one on dropbox.

That should make it failsafe. [:)]

Very sorry to learn of your misfortune. I really meant what I said though about spending the extra $10 for a hard copy. It comes in a nice case with nice artwork and looks great lined up on the bookshelf with my multitude of other matrix games. I have spent the extra $10 on every game I have bought from Matrix. Many have also come with a printed copy of the manual. It truly is worth the money.

That would be soooo true as at .10 per page double sided on cheap laser paper ...332 single pages for the AE manual .. that works out to $16.60 plus 4 bucks to bind the pages together ... vs. 10 bucks for the manual and CD with a box ...[:)]

AE did come with a printed manual at the time I purchased it. They may have run out of printed copies and it may no longer come with one.

It's kind of hit or miss on which games come with a printed manual and which don't. I recently purchased Decisive Campaigns Case Blue which came with a printed manual. I liked the game enough to want to purchase the earlier release in the series DC Blitzkrieg Warsaw to Paris which did not come with a printed manual.
