Cease Fire Bug

Post by gr33n303 »

I played the scenario "A Time To Dance" and somehow all units stopped shooting. They still move around and capture Victory Points but ignore each other.
Previous to this there was something wierd with the turn resolution, the time didn't advance.
So i saved the game and tried reloading and well yeah seems like the war is over.

Otherwise i like the game a lot. Lot of improvements over "Flashpoint Germnay".

Greetings from Germany

I am using WinXP. Attached should be the savegame, with which i can reproduce the error.

Is this with the patched version of the game?

Thanks for the save game it helps us troubleshoot.

I had the same bug several months ago in testing during a playing of "A Time to Dance" (same scenario). Units quit firing and just moved around capturing victory points. I never could get it to reproduce. I had auto save on and when I replayed that turn, they it played normal with the units firing again. There was something that triggered that non firing issue. I have not seen it since and you are the first person to experience it. If you or anyone else see it again, let us know. It is hard to fix something that we can reproduce. We have to be able to see it to identify what is causing it.

Also, we need the saved game file for that turn if you have it. Can you post it?

I can't load the file. Try changing the .txt to .zip and attach. Thanks.

The version is FPC 2.0.1.
I didnt't use autoSave so I have no save before the units stopped firing.

The problem I had in the previous turn was that the time during turn resolution didn't advance. At first I thought that maybe I had clicked pause, which wasn't the case. Anyway I clicked the pause button a few times and every second click(unpause) the time advanced. After the turn had ended this way, I saved restarted FPC and the units stopped shooting.

I can't reproduce this myself(I have played the same scenario a few times and never encountered any problem).

I attached the savefile as .zip

Greetings and thanks for the fast response.

Thanks for posting. I am out the door. I will look at it later this evening.

I might add that I have played this one scenario a zillion times and have only had this bug happen that one time and only in this scenario. That makes it really had to locate and fix. But the good news, it appears to be extremely rare and most people may never experience it. Hopefully, we will be able to find it and kill it. If it happens again, let us know. If you play with autosave on you have a saved game for every turn. It saves it when you press start so that you can always go back if something like this happens. I play with it on and just delete my old save game files if I don't need them (really I archive them for now in case we need to go back and check on something).
