HELP with RE-INstall

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

HELP with RE-INstall

Post by Phoenix100 »

So. My computer was wrecked by 3 Trojans and I had to start again, wipe the system, restore to factory settings.

To reinstall BFTB I did this: 1. Ran the original set-up release. 2. Ran the latest beta patch (264).3. Added the HTTR and COTA packs. What did I do wrong - anyone know? Because it behaves as if the HTTR scenarios haven't been converted in mapmaker - long, long load times. So obviously I got something wrong.

Should I have patched the original BFTB with ALL the subsequent patches? Or just the present latest patch (perhaps plus the beta)? Or done the add-ons then the patches?

What do I need to run to install the game with add-ons from scratch?

Many thanks.

Hi Peter.
I think that you need to install the game (BFTB) then the other packs (HTTR and COTA) and then patch from there.

Thanks Navwarcol. But do I have to do ALL the patches? My version of the game is the original download (40229)bought way back when. Or just the latest patch?

My experience with Matrix games is that the official patches are all cumulative - so that you don't need to install intermediate patches, just the lates one.

Also, I don't know how the patches handled the map conversion, but maybe they do need to be converted again (maybe the converted maps were not included in the patches since they would be converted the first time they ran under the patched game?).

Rick, correct..just need the latest one. And as for the maps, that is a possibility, you might have to do each one again, though I had thought that one of the patches 'fixed' that.

The patch that came out around the same time as the HTTR add-on fixed the maps thing. So I must have to install at least one other patch on top of the present members only beta 264. Maybe I'll just do them all....

Thanks, Rick and Navwarcol.

So. It was ok if I did it like this:
1. Install original 40229 release set-up of BFTB.
2. Patch via the game patcher.
3. Install add-ons
4. Add 264 beta patch.

I believe you should be able to install the original release version of BFTB, then the add-ons and then the latest official patch and then if you like the latest beta one. When you install the latest official patch it will check to see if you have any add-ons at that time and then convert them. So you need to install the add-ons first.

Thanks Dave. That's what I did in the end, exactly. The step I'd missed out was the latest 'official' patch - 263. I think 264 - the beta - mustn't be cumulative, and I'd only installed that. Works fine now with 263 first, then 264.
