Strange Anomaly
I'm playing Ate Up as Nato. Can't get Sun-Unit inspector happening - as well noted elsewhere -at least after a couple of times at the beginning. The odd thing is I can get no terrain info about or access to any hex between 2407 top to 2418 bottom and 1920 left to 3220 right.

RE: Strange Anomaly
A number of these issues are a problem with the windows OS and the "ghosting" process it has not playing nice with our sub-unit window and a number of other programs or specific windows setting. It is part of this issue here: tm.asp?m=3449230
You may want to check the appearance setting before dealing with programs. A few people near the bottom of the thread are having success. We also believe we have a fix that does not require messing with settings.

Hey baldbrother, we spent some time this morning looking at the issues you posted. We were able to reproduce them including your Bermuda Rectangle. It is being caused as Jim explained above. We think that we have a fix for it in the next build. All of the people (I believe) that we have encountered with this problem were using Windows 7 and a "Windows Basic" or "High Contract" theme for their background. When they have switched their background to the Aero theme in Windows 7 the problem goes away. If you are using something other than Windows 7 that would be helpful to know your OS. If you are using Windows 7 check your background and if it is a Windows Basic or High Contrast theme, try using an Aero theme and let us know if that helps. I was able to recreate these problems by switching from an Aero theme to a Windows Basic or High Contrast theme.

RE: Strange Anomaly
baldbrother, I tested the fix that we have for the Subunit panels not showing up after pressing F6 more than twice and for your Bermuda Rectangle on an old computer that I still have Windows XP installed and it was working appropriately on this computer. Hopefully, the patch coming out will fix this for you too. I was concerned when I realized that you were on an XP and wanted to make sure that it will work with that OS.

Thanks cbelva for your reply. Hopefully the patch will work for XP. I can't be the only one in the dark ages! Has there been any problem saving games. The one I'm playing saved just fine until a moment ago. Now it won't let me save anything. Regards.

RE: Strange Anomaly
Can you give us more details on how you are saving the game and what in particular is happening when it won't let you save? A screen shot would help too.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I am using Vista 64 Bit and have the same problem with subunit inspector. Thought it was fixed and it ran OK for a couple of games, but something happened -- it's kaput now. Two F6's (or any other call-up of the subunit inspector) and then it's gone.

RE: Strange Anomaly
Chet, try toggling the setting for themes. That has helped some folks. We believe we have a fix for the SUI in 2.02 that is working in testing. My guess is something revert or changed the settings that were working.

RE: Strange Anomaly
I tried toggling through all the standard theme modes. There are too many individual theme setups to do them all, go back to the game and see if sub-unit inspector works -- those I tried made no difference at all. Still works twice then stops working. If it did not work at all I would wonder more about the OS, but how does it work exactly twice then stop showing up. Program bug?
Still as puzzling as ever, especially since it worked for a while and I can't duplicate why.
At least I can play the game, though it's good to shut down every few turns and restart so you can continue giving orders to units without glitches.
Still a great game, but smooth operation would make it more fun. Looking forward to magic patch b2.02!

RE: Strange Anomaly
Maybe found a breakthrough. Switched to the Aero windows display mode. I had not bothered previously because from what I saw that was for Windows 7 in the forum (and I am far from an expert in Windows-anything and reluctant to make changes because they follow Murphy's Law of Unintended Consequences), but lo and behold such a thing can be found (albeit not easily)in Windows Vista, and when I set it to Aero mode, subunit inspector now seems to be working properly.
I hope. Because I am not sure WHY that worked, I can't figure out how it came and went on me previously.
For now,
Chet

Chet,
You are not the only one scratching their head on this. We believe we have a good fix in the 2.02 and we will find out when we release it.

RE: Strange Anomaly
Hi. Well I am now two days into playing after setting the Aero mode and sub-unit inspector works every time.
There is one other bug that "bugs" me -- the infamous reporting of air defense detection without saying where it is detected (and repeating it endlessly, filling the screen with useless text)...
That said, this is a really good game. Looking forward to patches, additional scenarios, etc.

Chet, we have beat down the hint bugs in the 2.02. Charles (Our QA Czar) is much happier with things now so we should be good to go.

For Capt D. Re saving the game. It auto saves but if I want to do a manual save I can't because the save screen is in the dead bit in the middle. I'm the guy using XP BTW.

RE: Strange Anomaly
baldbrother, With any luck the 2.02 update will fix this issue for you. We are also still digging around to see what else we can do to stop/halt the windows OS from ghosting the panels at odd times. We should be releasing the update to Matrix toward the weekend if everything goes smooth with the rest of our internal testing.

RE: Strange Anomaly
I am willing to beta the beta (so to speak) if you're not ready to release it formally. As of now the subunit inspector seems to have stabilized. Hallelujia.
