Editor question

Post by apd1004 »

I want to place an aircraft in the editor at a specific altitude, lets say 1000'. I add the unit but the editor sticks it at 40,000 feet. Am I blind or is there no way for me to get it to 1000' other than starting the clock and flying it down to that altitude?

No at the moment there is no other way then to start the clock.

Hopefully they fix this soon and allow us to set initial heading/speed/altitude for units while in the editor.

I havent got time to test it at the moment to see if it works, but if you position your units, set the slider to the required altitude etc, then start the game and allow the game long enough to run for all units to get to their required altitude, then stop the game, and do a save, would that solve the problem and everything be at the correct altitude when the game is next played?

Yes that is the only way you can do it right now as far as I can tell. It would be a lot less tedious to place an aircraft at 200' at the heading and speed that I want rather than having to fly it down there from 40,000'. Especially if placing units within weapons range of the enemy, which might cause engagement and automatic evasion and thus create even more work.

I'd also like to be able to have an input box during gameplay to type in specific course/speed/altitude rather than using the sliders to get it in the ballpark. Not a gamekiller, but it would be nice to have that.
