Stupidest question in the world

World in Flames is the computer version of Australian Design Group classic board game. World In Flames is a highly detailed game covering the both Europe and Pacific Theaters of Operations during World War II. If you want grand strategy this game is for you.

Stupidest question in the world

Post by FroBodine »

I know this is stupid even to ask, but I haven't seen any AARs or discussions about it, so I'm asking.

Does this game include the attack on Pearl Harbor, and the ensuing US vs. Japan War in the Pacific?

Also, does it include Operation Overlord and the US/British campaign in Western Europe?

See, I warned you they were stupid questions. But, I haven't seen any screenshots, so . . .

Be nice to me.

Yes ... and you get to choose the when and where this happens. You are the leader of your plans in this game.
Looking forward to playing my favorite board game WIF on the computer.

Very excellent! This game might just give me my Avalon Hill's Victory in the Pacific fix!

jglazier I will try to answer that for you and the only stupid question is the one you do not ask [;)]

When Steve adds the scenario Day of Infamy [Pacific theater map] into the scenario mix there will be a possible Pearl Harbor, I played it many times as a beta tester and with the program setup that the USA has to abide by there will be a Pearl Harbor. In the Guadalcanal scenario which was my main testing area the game starts with the US and Japan at war and will involve carrier wars that can be very decisive to the outcome of the scenario. The scenario starts in the May/June 1942 first turn.

It is only 5 turns [10 months] but it will allow you to really get into naval warfare. You will learn how to invade islands and hopefully hold them.

When Steve adds in Fascist tide it will be the European Map and it will start in Sept/Oct 1939 and go to the end of the war. I have 2 AAR's that are finished one is on, I think page 6 called Battle of the Coral sea and the other one can be found in the after action report it is called Poland Sept 1st, there are also AAR's by Composser and Orm.

if you like Victory in the Pacific you will definitely enjoy World in Flames. WiF owes a lot to VitP in my opinion. Both great games.

Oh, I thought I just saw that Day of Infamy was already one of the included scenarios? Not yet? Is there a ballpark ETA for it? Weeks? Months? A year?

There is a thread on that somewheres here.

Waking Giant starts with the Pearl Harbor attack (if the Japanese want to set it up). It is a full-map scenario.

Thank you Steve. So, it sounds like there are still more scenarios that you are going to add, per bo's comment?

Is this the plan for the near future? Smaller map scenarios? That would be incredibly awesome. I can't wait!

My contract was for the 11 scenarios that ADG's WIF board game has. That is quite enough to code, thank you very much.[;)] 9 are complete in the current version. The two half map scenarios are waiting on me to code up the special rules concerning the half-map scenarios.

That is what I meant. I don't expect you to create a bunch of new scenarios. [:)] I look forward to the two half map scenarios.
