The Ise met this cruiser force two days back with liittle result but lots of shooting. Ise then bombarded Medan the next day so as you can imagine she was short on main gun ammo.

And again. Both sides low on ammo now.

My CVs catch him unloading on one of the Fiji islands. Unfortunately he'd already gotten the troops off. About 1500 I think.

4/3/42 I forgot to mention that yesterday it appeared that he had brought into the Java Sea three coal burners. I also haven't mentioned that he's bombing Bangkok into a cinder. For the moment I'm unable to counter.

Here's the only action from today.

I too have experienced the dissapointment of large AV/troop numbers failing to secure such targets quickly.

What's the composition of the attacking force? 6K/184AV would seem to be a good set up?

Do you have combat engineers and artillery present? Are the leaders good for assualt type actions? What about pre-invsion naval and/or aerial bombardments after raising detection levels to cause disruption, destroy supply and prevent fort building/repair?

I am just starting my next new game as Japan (Scen 1) and this time I am assembling combined arms forces, heavy and medium, to try and take the strategic locations quickly so I can quickly push follow up forces in to establish the LBA ubmrella. A heavy landing force will consist of 2 larger SNLF or Naval Guards units (~120 AV total), an independent artillery unit and a combat engineer unit(~ 15 AV). These are earmarked for places like: Singkawang, Ambon, Menado, Ternate, Makassar, Kendari, Palembang, Rabaul (prob take more), etc. Additionally, I am pulling the 15-20 AV light armor/recon units from China to give the heavies a little extra oomf and some pursuit capabilty when they lad on larger islands where retreat is possible. A medium landing force consists of a single large SNLF or Naval Guards, an indepent artillery unit and a conmbat engineer unit. These will go after smaller garrisons and will be held as close theater reserves to quickly reinforce any heavies or other mediums that get "stuck".

Each attack will get some form of naval bombardment and aerial bombardment to kick off the assault. I'll also inspect and change out any sub par leaders that are not "Assault" type leaders - assuming this should tilt "die rolls" more in my favor.

Cheers
Simonsez

I don't have it in front of me but as I recall I have 2 naval guard units, a SNLF unit and some non-combat engineers. The commanders were selected for this work. Soooo, why didn't I go ahead and send artillery? I just didn't feel like it that day. Soooo, why didn't I go ahead and send some combat engineers? Ditto. I think I'm going to go home early today. By the way, I always wear all of my flair (medals) when I'm playing.

4/11/42 Evidently Raiden was able to reinforce Ambon and I totally missed it.
