ME: Invisible RP / Triggers

Post by coolts »

My first attempt at a user created mission is coming along nicely, (thanks to Baloogans videos [&o] ). Its damn addictive, especially when you can’t fight your own damn creation!

I have groups of Paratroopers spawning when their transport flies through an area designated by locked reference points, (visible to player as padlocks on screen).

They are to reach a pre-briefed building and I want a message to pop up and various actions to trigger.

Now I don’t want another padlock on the screen. The target building is pre briefed and I want the player to engage their grey matter not just “follow the padlocks”.

I can’t see how to make RP’s invisible to the player apart from maybe a hack where I switch sides in the editor and create the RP then switch back and make the trigger referencing the other sides RP. I’m not at my home PC so am not even sure that would work, but it’s a hack if it does.

I don’t want padlocks all over the place ;)

Yeah you can make an additional side, put all the RPs in it and build the event and it'll work. You can still reference the player side's units etc

Thanks for watching [:)]

And Tomcat84 has it exactly right.

He also has a video out about relative reference points if you were curious about those. [:D]

Cheers guys. So, a 'hack' then**. I will give it a go. I suppose I could create a 'null' side just for unseen reference points, etc. otherwise if i'm creating a few playable sides each needed unseen waypoints it will get very confusing.

** Today's workaround is tomorrows feature (hopefully)
