The Germans managed to set up and execute 1 attack just west of Belgrade this impulse and after wining there only Belgrade itself stands between a German victory there.

Italy stratbombed Lyons and knocked out 2 pp from the French.

These units were destroyed in the M/A 40 turn With the Chinese build at 7 there are as many Chinese units coming back as Japan has been able to destroy.

A (hopefully) small request that would help me on your screen shots: could you turn on the ownership flags please (in China)?

The Germans are ground striking 3 places in France and Belgrade, the bombers are shown. The units in hex form show the content of the hex on the south being struck French interceptors have flown to two hexes and Germans have flown fighters to support their bombers.

Fairly good air action for the Axis. One bomber was just aborted but the other ones disrupted about half the defending units. In China the line bomber disrupted a Chinese unit. No planes were lost from either side but the French fighter forces are all used up and disrupted.

During the attacks following, the Chinese line in the south was broken and penetrated in the middle. Belgrade fell but half the German units were disrupted. In France only the attack SW Lille took lace with 2 French units lost.

The Allies BEF retreats a little in France French units reinforce their line. A CW ground strike on the German spearhead failed , the CW bomber and a German ME110 were shot down.
The Chinese move to remake their front in the south.

The new impulse brings welcome storms to the north Monsoon area of southern China.

There's a well known (to Wiffers) gambit called the Bessarabia Gambit. If Germany attacks Yugoslavia, they can align Rumania before the Russians can claim Bessarabia.

It may seem gamey to some but there are definite pros and cons to doing it. One pro is above, plus you have access to Rumania's factory earlier. (You were getting her oil anyway.)

Here are 3 cons:
1. You get more free units with Rumania by waiting to align her as she'll build them in the interim.
2. You give up the chance to align Yugoslavia to the axis and get the Yugo units on your side.
3. As per the conditions of the Nazi-Soviet Pact, the Russian part of the trade agreement is reduced by one resource going to Germany.

I would note that the game in this AAR is not a "No Bessarabia" game as the Russians placed their demand for Bessarabia at their first opportunity on the 4th impulse of this game.

I like to joke that the possible political outcomes in the Balkans are quite Byzantine. What happens in the Balkans in the game could probably use it's own thread.

The second Axis impulse in M/J 40 has storm in the North Monsoon so Japanese there are resting. An attack with HQ support and a ground strike that disorganized one of the two defending units worked and Si An fell but it cost a US Entry chit to Jap pool and 2 lost Japanese units and 4 more disorganized.

Yugoslavia is being cleaned up of defending units and the Germans are able to continue moving southwards there.

France saw one attack on a strong hex 2 SE Lille. It was blitzed and taken but a French Mech was shattered and will return next turn.

Allied second impulse with storms in N Monsoon and rain in arctic.

Minos skirmishes in the Med sinks an Italian Convoy. French fast light cruisers leave Marseilles and sail to the C Verde area on their way to likely safe havens in Equatorial Africa. The admirals have seen the writing on the walls.

The 3rd Axis impulse again has fine weather everywhere.

Italian SUB fails to find Allied convoys in W Med. They do knock out a small French Inf south of Lyons.
Japan kills the southeast corner of the Chinese lines in the south.
Germany advances southwards in Yugoslavia, attacks NE Paris, the French fly in ground support but they were shot down, the attack only shatters the defenders but the first hex adjacent to Paris is now in German control.

German HQ Von Leeb reorganizes a large Stuka

The Allies are just trying to hold the line in France. Additional French Cruisers have left Marseilles. Cw strat bombing took 1 pp from Prague. Most of the closer targets have been covered by German Fighters.
