Multiple Crashes

Post by Scarz »

I have been getting crashes continuously around Oct of the first year. The last one seemed to corrupt the save files, as there were no longer and saved game files, and the text was jumbled.

I downloaded the patch, but that did not fix the issue.

I then reinstalled the game and the patch, and again around Oct I get another crash.

This is very frustrating.

Hi,

Sorry for the inconvenience.

The logs don't tell about the crash, I would need you to forward me to pocus@ageod.net your current saved game.

The logs though seems to indicate that many graphics are missing, for example gx_navalyard.png should be in your game directory, but is not according to the report. Can you verify that this graphic file is there, and if not, apply the patch again?

Hi Pocus:
Still getting crashes in the early 1862 timeframe. I have reduced the graphics setting in game as you suggested, but there still seems to be a crash issue.

Sorry to hear about that. I can send you a specific CW2.EXE that is more tolerant on memory problem, if you are interested. It will probably be the one given to all players for next patch. My address: pocus@ageod.net

I get the same crashes around OCT-NOV of 1861. I have restarted the game (July campaign) over now 4 times. Every time I get to this point at the end of a resolution/hosting phase of the game it crashes. I am using the latest version according to the auto-updater and the only thing I have done to the game is added more music which works fine. My CPU is i7 3770k @ 3.5ghz with 8gb ram running WIN7 64 bit. Thanks

About the last save, there is 3 complete backups and the new turn, but only the HST file, so you did not issue orders. When do you exactly crash? When processing this new turn or the turn before? I can't reproduce any bug anyway, so did you try a 2nd time with the same turn to see if the bug is reproducible?
Can you also check or send the logs file, to see the nature of the bug? This might be video driver related and not game logic related... In this case reducing memory usage can do great.

Last, there will be a patch not too far in the future which is more stable, memory management wise.

Hi Pocus,

Yes, the save game was immediately after the previous turn and before plotting my next moves. I don't know why I sent that save file...I did try again and the turn went through. The log file of the previous crash was attached to post #5 of this thread.
