Maps?

World in Flames is the computer version of Australian Design Group classic board game. World In Flames is a highly detailed game covering the both Europe and Pacific Theaters of Operations during World War II. If you want grand strategy this game is for you.

Maps?

Post by ec2285 »

I am a total WIF newb but am most likely going to get the game and give it a go.

I am trying to figure out what I would use the map pack for/ what are the advantages of having the maps. Just for me to look at and wish I had counters?

Thanks for any of your thoughts.

The maps are pure chrome.
If you have 7 odd meters of wall space then fantastic but it is otherwise just bling. Having said that.... I don't have the wall space but had to get them anyway !!

The counter sheets can be purchased separately from Australian Design Group. If you are going to acquire all the counters that are in MWIF, they aren't cheap.

MWIF provides the equivalent of the rule book for the board game (RAC) as one of the printed manuals. It also includes most of the other material for playing the board game as PDF files, but not all. For example, the production spiral is a form in MWIF. In the board game it is a sheet of paper with information related to production printed within the production spiral.

dear steve,

so... what do we need to play with the maps?
i mean, what do we have to buy separately (which counter-sets, production spiral...) to play like 'analog'-wiffers? [8D]

cheers!

Perhaps some other long time WIF players can answer this question? They probably know better than I and I'm rather busy to research a complete answer to your question.

My guess would just be the counters as the charts are in the manuals. However, your best bet is to e-mail Harry Rowland and ask him he is very good at responding

I saw that too. Those would be to the appropriate scale and whatnot? If so that would be pretty interesting to see.

Yes, the scale is correct. The hexes for the printed map are within 100ths of an inch the same as for the board game.

World in Flames all set up with the colorful counters all over the map is a wonderful sight. Double computer monitors and even pictures of the game can't equal that.

I don't even have space any longer for the old maps, much less this 21 X 9 behemoth. In hopes that I would one day have the room, I bought multiple copies at a liquidation sale years ago. I have multiple copies of the basic counters, but only one set of the add on counters.

Cats and small children would agree with that [:D]

Cats have a very impressive 4,739-4-127 record playing World in Flames. Caught in the act while still a little bit lost in the eastern Pacific accounts for the 127 draws usually. 4 game owners let their WiF passions fully express themselves afterwards however.
