Russell, I enjoyed your review! I haven't played the board version of the game but the online version looks and sounds great. Also, the WBC is an event that I hope to attend in the future. Lancaster, PA is a very special place for me since the APBA sports game company resided there for many years (we used to call it Mecca) [:)]. I've been playing APBA Baseball (board & computer) for many, many years...thanks again!

Good review [&o]
BTW, you ARE aware that there is a (old but nevertheless) PC version of Adv.Civ available out there for DL? Works ok, although it is ofc not the same as playing against other people.
I just love the board game (ran across it by chance at a gaming convention some 15 or so years ago), but there are not enough people around that are keen on those long sessions unfortunately. And to make things even worse, the largest gaming convention in Norway has moved the game to a mid-day tournament, which means that it MUST end after 6 hours, where we before would play the 6-hour session, and then keep playing through the night to finish the game. Always fun to make those trade agreements after 8+ hours at 0400 in the morning when you neither see nor think clearly [:D].

Yes I have the PC version. Much more violent than the online or inperson games at WBC [:)]. Was a real shocker when I played my first game at WBC and found out that people would completely stop trading with you if you were too agressive like I was [:(]. So the computer game is NOT a good way to learn how to play against real people. But it is a good learning tool for how the game actually works. However, the online version is so much better than the computer game [:)]

I've been trying to buy a copy of the Advanced Civ boardgame for months now. Wow, the price of those is high. I have yet to find one for less than $300. I got the original Civ boardgame for $60 on ebay.

Thanks Eddy, believe it or not, I already made that person an offer and never got a response.
