OT: Is Microsoft WWII Combat Flight Simulator ...

Post by AUY2K »

I do not have this game but was thinking about buying it. I know it takes part in the Pacific. Is this game any good and should I put the time and $$ into it?

Thanks.

Yes, it is a very good flight sim, infact I think that it is better than MSFS 3.

Fully agreed, CFS3 sucks! CFS2 was the best of the 3.

One comment: you do need a real machine to run it on, with a decent graphics card that doesn't drag your machine down.

I'm an official Microsoft "as real as you get if you fly paper airplanes for a living" club member so I'm somewhat biased here.

If you have ever seen Precision Simulator 744, you'll understand why folks detest Microsoft so much when it comes to flight "toys" (can't bring myself to use the word simulator with their stuff!)

It's sad when a DOS based pascal written program STILL outmodels the 151st re-release of MicroSmurf Flight Sim :(

CFS 2 was decent. If authenticity is what you want, it needs some heavy modding. The weapons model is skewed, the flight models are mushy, and the damage modelling is waaay too sensitive. Fortunately, there are oodles of mods out there to correct all of this. Haven't a clue where to find them anymore, though.

Now, if Oleg Maddox (Il-2 and Forgotten Battles fame) can take that engine to the Pacific....

Have a look at last months poll that we did here on Flight ims. Its on the Main page to the Matrix Site. IL2 was the most fav game.

I prefer CFS3 over CFS2. The AI planes is CFS2 stick to the deck which is so annoying. But IL2 is the best and I can't wait till get FB. I think this will be the all time best.

FB is amazing. Just did a flyover around Leningrad-the detail in the ground model is as good as a lot of ground combat sims. With the new flyable planes from Hungary, Finland and others, this is the only one worth owning in my book.

Maybe someday they will do a Pacific version...

Get it. You won't regret it one bit. :)

benpark,

There is, or at least was, a lot of whispering over at the FB forums about a Pacific game. We can hope...
