The Region editor

This exciting new release is a faithful adaptation of the renowned Conflict of Heroes board game that won the Origins Historical Game of the Year, Charles Roberts Wargame of the Year and the James F. Dunnigan Design Elegance Award, as well as many others!

Designed and developed in cooperation with Uwe Eickert, the original designer of Conflict of Heroes, and Western Civlization Software, the award-winning computer wargame studio, no effort has been spared to bring the outstanding Conflict of Heroes gameplay to the computer. Conflict of Heroes includes an AI opponent as well as full multiplayer support with an integrated forum and game lobby. To remain true to the core gameplay of the board game, the PC version is designed to be fun, fast and easy to play, though hard to master. The game design is also historically accurate and teaches and rewards platoon and company-level combined arms tactics without overwhelming the player with rules.

The Region editor

Post by Gizuria »

I've been experimenting with the scenario editor and have crafted my first map. I think I've got a handle on most of the elements involved in scenario creation. However, the region editor is pretty vague. I could do with a help out with this one as it seems to be central to good design.

So, creating set-up zones: North of, East of, South of, West of?
How does this work? North (etc) of what?

Also, if I 'buy' and place a unit in the editor, I don't appear to have the option to delete it if I don't want it anymore. How do I delete units purchased in this way?

And finally, the Russian BA10 Armoured car seems a bit too well protected. Front Hard 15 (!) when the Pak36 has a hard attack value of 5?! I take it these are the values assigned to it in the board game.

these are hex numbers in x,y co-ords, say 4,16 etc
So if you want to place units say only South of a line, choose a hex number in the line and fill in the South of hex, you can leave the rest blank. You can chose a corner and say South of x,y and say West of x,y.
While looking at your map, write down the co-ords you'll need and enter them when you're in the editor.
Hovering your mouse over a hex will tell you the hex number.

When the going gets weird,... the weird turn pro

That makes sense. Thanks. I'll play around with it a bit more and see what I can do with it.
