USA will remain neutral, eh? Apparent disconnect between Washington and the lads on the front lines, it would appear. The CIC does know there's a shootin' war on, doesn't he?[&:]

There is a bit of a news lag from Washington.

Better not tell Marshall. He'll be seriously pissed that there's been a war on for nigh unto 2 years and he's not been informed.

The most amazing thing just happened. My daughter called to tell me she got in fender bender AND IT WASN'T HER FAULT!

I feel luckier than Guy Fawkes jumping off the gallows and breaking his neck rather than being drawn and quartered! YEEHAW!

Could be worse. She could tell you that you were going to be a Grandpapa...AND IT WASN'T HER FAULT!

Being told you were going to be a Grandpapa is not so bad. Compare it to being told you are going to be a Grandpapa?

**********Operational Pranning Formosa and Okinawa*********

JJ has us stopped for a bit at Karenko. There are two CW divisions prepping for Taihoku but they need R&R after the fight in Luzon. They will land at Karenko, dispatch the two WJD regiments there and then march on Taihoku. They probably won't be ready for a fight for 10-14 days.

Okinawa: Now that we have recon every day over Okinawa for 3 d a clearer picture is emerging. There are 48K WJD at Naha in 16 units with 378 guns and 175 Ronsons. Quite and able force. Nago has 10K with 45 Ronsons and a fortress with CD guns. Even Kume-jima (NW of Naha) has WJD's. There really was no hope of surprise. The Japan-mens rive in Japan and the can rook at map just rike us. [:)]

Before Wasp was hit, there was a chance we could risk a snap landing with cover from Wasp and Yorktown but now it has to more deliberate. Batan Is is a level 5 field, Miyanko-jima will be level 3 and Aparri will be level 7 soon. Operations to wear down the arifields on Okinawa have started.

Landing Forces over 50% prep:

US 32nd ID
US 37th ID (still drawing infantry replacements)
Aus 8th Div
1st, 3rd, 22nd USMC Regt
(5th and 7th also available if taken out of line at Manila)
161st RCT
SWPAC HQ

That is 4-5 division-equivalents. Probably enough, although they won't crumble right away.

147th RCT is prepped for Kume-jima and 2 Bn of Marine paras are readying on Miyako-jima.

So I am in a hurry to get ready to get to work today and can't find Ecco's (old man shoes) so I just throw on my Topsiders (sort of like boat shoes) and then I get to work and I realize I am 100% dressed up like The Professor from Gilligan's Island. [:)] Khaki slacks, Topsiders, dress shirt sleeves rolled up.

Did you address SG as "Lovey" and ask her (in a nasal tone) to freshen your drink? For added emphasis, you could rattle the cubes in the glass to illustrate your request further.

I didn't sleep well last night. I woke at 2am to find the ghost of Gloria Gaynor sat on the end of my bed. First I was afraid then I was petrified.

Too much French wine, I imagine.

Did she say what she wanted? My guess is she was trying to warn you..about something.

Meh. Could be worse. There's an upside to being 'petrified' in your bed at 2am.

Burma: JJ are atacking the retreated 6th Aus Div across the Irrawaddy. You don't imagine they mean to cross there? Bassein would be a nice spot for a fighter strip to cover a landing at Moulmein. The CAP from Ramree does a number on the WJD attacks.

I looked up Gloria Gaynor's songs.

The most likely candidates for hidden messages are

I Will Survive

or

Never Can Say Goodbye

Here is what Wiki had to say about I will survive: "The song has become something of an anthem of female emancipation, and is still the #1 staple of office parties and karaoke nights."

Do you keep female slaves, Admiral Lord SPrior? What kind of operation you running there in Kandy House?

My nightmares involve accidently stumbling into a Sushi breastaurant on karaoke night and being forced to listen to You Right Up My Rife sung repeatedly.

Karaoke is a Japan-mens invention but those Koreans are just karaoke nutcases. We have a big Korean contingent at work. Pretty damn good singers, too.

See, that's my problem. Karoake rook rike great fun but you either have to have a good voice or THINK you have a good voice to enjoy it. I suppose you can drink until you exceed the "loss of all personal dignity" threshold but then how are you supposed to remember the words?

I have the same problem with dancing. I am pretty sure I make Mitt Romney rook rike MJ.

Ah, but that's the beauty of exceeding your loss of all personal dignity threshold - you won't remember that you forgot the words!

I was just thinking about Lord Admiral SPrior's dream. It's really no more odd than having a dream with Raisa Gorbachev in it....unless the ghost of Gloria Gaynor was still there when he woke up. I'm not sure he made that part clear.

************Pranning for June 4****************

Airfield damage at Naha is at 13% but we apparently broke a bunch of fighters. Japan-mens in ships apparentry run away so we send in North Carolina tonight to bombard again then, in the morning, we raid Nago with about 40 B-24's from Aparri.

Washington and Massachusetts are fully armed in separate task forces at Miyako-jima, ready to take their turns if needed.

You gotta love the fast BB's.
