Error in ART Ground Strike

Post by markb50k »

Think I discovered a bug.

Dont have a game save but its pretty easy to describe.

Was providing ART as a ground strike (Japan vs China). I assigned the ART to hex A by dragging it onto the Chinese stack. Then, I reconsidered the attack and decided to attack another hex instead. I then dragged the ART from hex A (Chinese stack) to the adjacent hex B (another Chinese stack). The game allowed me to do this.

During the ground strike resolution, the ART attacked the correct (the second) hex as ordered.

Unfortunately, later in the turn, the first hex (A) was determined to be overstacked because the 3 Chinese units + the ART were in the same hex. It seems that after the ground strike, the ART was auto-returned to base, unfortunately it was returned to hex A (the first Chinese stack).

I had to restore the save at the beginning of ground strike phase to fix the issue.

So, in summary, the GUI should not allow me to change targets of the ART by dragging from one hex to another. It should probably force me to undo the first attack and then redo to the secondary target.

Ah ha! Thank you. I had this as a bug to fix but I had no idea what caused it to happen.[&o][&o]

EDIT: Fixed. You now have to undo ground striking the first target before you can choose another.

Before this fix it was possible to target an adjacent unit, then change the target to another hex adjacent to the first target and continue on until the artillery was ground striking a target several hexes away.[:D]
