Two monitor resolution change

Ok so we tried the net play last night to no avail. Read the posts on that so looking forward to possible fix this weekend.

Since that wasn't working we switched to using a tool called teamviewer and my buddy remoted into my machine and we played hot seat. Who says us wiffers aren't resourceful. [:D]

The only issue we had was the resolution was a bit high for my friend to see remotely so I dropped down in res. When we went to do the setup the scrap box showed up, but then it seemed like the setup tray went poof. We tried a few things, and then by some chance noticed the tray was there but not visible. When I put the resolution back up it was down off the bottom of the screen.

So it seems like the game doesn't like it when you switch resolutions once you've started. And it doesn't like it once you've played, e.g. if you exit the game change res and then restart it still has this issue.

I normally have my monitor at 2560x1440, and we dropped to 1920x1080 for the session.

The setup tray seemed to be the only thing that did this, the rest of the evening went without a hitch..

The Screen Layout file records where the Setup Tray is positioned, and its size. See page 206 of Players Manual volume 2 for the other things the SLY file records.

What apparently happened is that your SLY file had the Setup Tray positioned at the bottom using the higher resolution. When you switched resolution, the SLY file was still positioning the Setup Tray using the previous offset from the top of the form. You could switch resolution mid-game if you made sure the position of the various forms that the SLY file records are good for the different resolution.

A better solution is to have two SLY files, one for each resolution: SL1440 and SL1080. Then you would only need to switch between them (using the SLY list form) whenever you switch resolution. I would place both SLY files on the SLY list for both SLY files. That is, both SL1440 and SL1080 would be listed for the SLY files named SL1440 and SL1080. They would both reference the other and you could switch between them with a click of the mouse.

EDI: Oh, and having the other player join you and play Hot Seat sounds like a terrific solution.[:)]
