Fog option

Close Combat: Panthers in the Fog is the first new release (not a re-make of a previous games) in years in the critically acclaimed Close Combat series. It details the desperate German counter-attack at Mortain, the last chance of the Wehrmacht to stave off defeat in Normandy. Can you match the tenacity of the American defenders of Hill 314? Or can you succeed where the Panzers failed, driving through to the sea and changing history? Improved 32-bit graphics and the ability to control more squads than ever bring the Close Combat engine to a new level.

Fog option

Post by genehaynes »

Just bought the game, sorry if this question has been asked before.

Installed v1.01, and saw the "Hide Fog Effects" in the General options screen. However there was no keystroke listed behind it?? What is the keystroke to disable fog?

BTW, when I started the game after installing the update the fog WAS gone.

Am I missing something, or doing something wrong?

I think I stumbled on the answer. CLICK on the words "Hide Fog Effects" seems to toggle the effects.

You're correct -- there is a check box you click to toggle hiding the fog on or off. There is no keystroke assigned to it.

Steve,

Not that it matters, but I don't see a check box for this option. Is it possible the check box is the same color as the background (i.e. Black). Same for the language option.

Really enjoying the game.

Hmmm. There is a Windows checkbox control there. If you don't see it then yes, it could be a color issue. Perhaps your system is showing the control with a black outline on the black background, yes.

Steve,

I guess that's whats happening, because on the Game Play options screen I can see the the keystokes assigned to the Mini map, Soldier screen, etc. Just not seeing any check boxes.

Thanks for letting me know. I'll make a note of that as something to look at fixing in a future update.

With the ability to disable the fog in PITF, I wonder how many players actually disable it. Does this mean "weather" effects will not be present in other games?

No, hide fog effect only hides the image that serves as "fog", it doesn't disable its effects.

I can't find this option, but maybe it is in the initial installation? Now that I have the game already installed what do I do to find this option? Do I have to un-instal and re-instal?

If you don't see the option in the game options dialog box, you need to update your game to the latest version.
