What would be the reason?

Post by warspite1 »

I organised all my Soviet units last turn, but one HQ (Koniev - pictured) remained disorganised. Is there an explanation for this (zone of control or something) or a possible bug?

No oil available (due to a blocked supplyroute across the Black Sea) is something which comes into my mind here.

Thank-you. Not sure why the Black Sea would be blocked - there are no units from either side at sea. I can see why oil could not flow from the hex east of the HQ - there is an all sea hexside, but I would have thought the port would be a viable route?

Meanwhile, how about this? I have just done the reinforcement stage and about to start the turn when I get greeted with this box.

I thought the program told you if stacking limits were exceeded?

I've just had to destroy 8 (Eight) aircraft..... That's the Japanese naval air arm decimated. Any reason why that would happen?

Could it be that the you were insulted by the Japanese at one time?

I bet this has to do with Empire101, showing him how the Aircraft stack on the Yamato...

Wow - which version are you running? Steve did something about a bug where the CV air component should not linger on hexes flown earlier - maybe this is a regression bug.

If there are no naval vessels in the Black Sea, than it's a bug...

If you are using the limited overseas supply optional rule, you need a convoy point, TRS, or AMPH in the Black Sea to trace supply through it.
I thought I knew how to play this game....

1.05 I'm afraid. In terms of the game this is pretty huge - I mean a Japan without carriers....

Yes it looks like from a read of the rules you are right. Although the supply path for oil reorganisation can be of any length, there is nothing to say you don't need a TRS, AMPH or CP if playing with limited overseas supply.

I would like to see a saved game for this.

The program shouldn't permit you to unload all the carrier air units from their carriers in a port (e.g., via rebasing). My best guess would be something to do with the code for: "naval units returning to base with cargo automatically unload their cargo". But that shouldn't apply to carrier air units.[&:]

Weird...

When I look at the destroyed pool, the eight Japanese carrier aircraft are there as expected. However, the aircraft also appear to be on the carriers.

Only a D3A1 appears to be missing...

This may be part of the answer why they are appearing on the carriers...I get this message for three units only though...

To re-org an oil dependent unit you trace like a basic supply path - only an unlimited distance - to the oil. With LOS and no TRS/Amph/CP in the Black Sea, Koniev is in supply from Odessa but has no supply line to an oil.

The game did it right.

I've put the Japanese Fleet to sea to see what the effect is - three aircraft appear in the transports and sub box???

The 3 carrier air units on the right appear to be the second aircraft aboard the carriers on the left; it looks like they are being shown twice. You (as a beta tester) can check this by doing a right click on the units and seeing if ID numbers are the same.

Were you using the Debug feature to place units on the map? That 'tool' is not super-reliable and should only be used for a very specific, and limited, purpose.

Well well.

I just started on my Global War. Slowly trying to learn the way to set up convoys properly, and gotten as far as ground strikes on impulse 1 when I noticed Umezu in China is OOS. The weather is fine, convoys are in place, and I've scratched my head as to why the game does not list Umezu as a valid supply source. It's been a while since I played the boardgame version, but I can't fathom what I am missing (considering the map scale is the same in Asia on MWiF).

What the...

I closed the game and reloaded it. Now Umezu is in supply, and acting as a secondary supply source.

Very, very weird behaviour for a program...
