Post by Hexagon »

Well, i am playing "Defense of Weser Crossing" as NATO and all works fine until arrive the heli unit, when it appears practically after any action made by one of my units game center in heli unit and appear the message "detects hostile air search radar" this made the turn resolution looooooooooooooooong and booooooooooooooooring, i need over double time to see the turn resolution and is a little [:o] looks like after any action from my units the heli unit detect the same search radars all the time and the message appear all the time.

Any point about this??? thanks.

I'll chat with Rob tonight and see what we can do to speed up the detection cycle when helos enter the fray. This may have to wait for the January 2.04 update to get fixed based on current bug work.

Thanks for the report.

I agree that the radar warning need to be toned down. They were in the last patch but not enough. I ran into this the other night in a scenario I was testing that had lots of helos and AD assets. I ended up turning off combat hints so that I could play the scenario. I have it marked for discussion with the developers. As Jim stated, we will discuss tonight.

I was playing Strike First, and it was complete unplayable with the delay the radar detection warnings were causing. I'm fine with a combat tip the first time it happens, now we know there are ADA assets in play. After that it gets a little over the top.

Suggestion: Display the combat hint the first instance a unit detects a radar in the scenario. From there change the color of the icon (not the counter, just the silhouette) from black to white. If the unit no longer detects a radar it shifts back to black. Very easy to see, distinct from the other status markers on the counter, and as it updates with the rest of the counter status markers I don't see it slowing things down.

That has been way toned down. And I agree that it did make it unplayable the way it was. Basically until we can come up with a better way to show this, Rob has turned off the actual message. you can still tell that the helo is detecting a radar unit because its hex flashes, but it does not delay the game like the actual message did.

We are currently starting to discuss what changes to do for 2.04 for both Sudden Death (SD) and also Fog of War (FoW). A number of the ideas are to get a better representation of radio and radar intercepts and also arty locations for counter battery fire. We will also be looking to get all of the various messaging displays to sync based on information known about contacts and kills. So these items are on the radar to get worked on and enhanced.
