Performance Issues

Post by Apox »

Hello everyone,

I am new to this forum and would like to find out why my DW is lagging so badly mid game.

I have a rather strange performance problem. When I start a fresh game I can play without any problem (at least I think thats the way it is), but I once I load a saved game (mid game) I get terrible lags and it makes it almost unplayable. I have set down the frame rate and such, which helps alot, but I still get lags when zooming and pop-up delays.

I allocated more virtual ram within windows, which didn't seem to help a bit. With 16GB RAM and 2 Terrabyte hard drive... I wonder how this 2D game can lag so badly.

My rig is high end, so this should not be an issue. Please see specs below (DW with all extentions):

Can anyone please help me resolve this issue. I want to play max player max sized maps, and my PC should definatly be able to handle it.

By the way, is there a way to install a 64bit version of DW?

Thanks in advance!

I have a three year old PC with average specs and only get a bit of latency when the whole galaxy is full of ships.

Try updating video drivers. Also, check to see if cpu is busy and if it's the game doing it.

Had monitoring running... nothing special, didn't use up much cpu or ram... it's really weird.

Definately has to do with the game or my system.

This is with a fully updated Shadows? Please upload a saved game for us to investigate, at the point where it starts lagging badly for you.

where does DW save the savegame files?

Can't find them, I also think I have overwritten the file, but there still might be an autosave game file.

I was playing with version 1.9.0.11 when that happened, I have now already installed 1.9.0.12.

Unfortunately I have overwritten the file.

Ps.: Probably wouldn't have worked, I was playing my own mod (which does not cause any other problems)...

Wouldn't think that the ship and race images caused that, but... could they?
