Counterattack H to H scenario

Post by Panta_slith »

This is a second H2H scenario, not suitable for solo playing. All units are fictional but the Orbats are realistic. The battle is supposed to take place early 80s. A US Cavalry regiment is ordered to counterattack to dislodge a WP MRR before they receive reinforcements and attack to seize a poorly defended crossroad. The idea of the scenario is to reward proper use of military tactics as described in the diverse manuals from many armies (pick your own) and to penalize gamey approaches. (If I succeeded or not is still to be seen! [;)] )
Note: For the present battle I am using the excellent CA1 map made by Jamm and believe me, it is worth trying it!

Got it. Will take a look at the scenario this weekend if I get a chance.

I did look at the briefing map. Why do you not have side specific briefing maps that don't show where the other sides forces are and what their objectives are? I would think that would be a requirement for a H2H battle.

Thanks for taking the time to create the scenario. I know just how much of a challenge that can be.

Good Hunting.

Well, it could be done, of course, but I am lazy... [>:] As they are not intended to be played against the AI, just one objective is enough, and even that is a bit unnecessary since the battle results can be assessed at the end of the battle.
Actually I do the scenarios for myself and to pbem with friends, I just like to share them, though I am afraid that FPC is mostly enjoyed by solo players yet...As an example, I made three scenarios for co-op play in Steel Beasts Pro and they were downloaded almost 800 times (in total). It is a pity, since FPC is a VERY good game to play with another fellow human, very suitable for pbem and extremely rich in tactical possibilities.
Probably the style to present the scenarios is a little bit dry, but I just borrowed it from the SBP scenarios in general, even from those made by military folks, not too verbose.
