Unit Placement Pop Up Error After Save

Post by jhdeerslayer »

First, I overwrote the Save so can't send it. Me bad.

2nd Turn of Barbarossa and I saved right after German Place Units Set Up was offered and the normal place units screen available with many units to place.

When I Restored the file, I got a Pop Up that about 6 units could not be placed as no space on the map (it said) and I need to delay their arrival. One unit was an Italian in Warsaw and Warsaw empty. The other units too made no sense that there was no room. Militia in Helsinki, etc.

I then gave up on this save and went back to an older save and played through this Set Up with no problem. Never saw this pop up again.

So it would seem something about saving right after the Set Up screen generated this bug.

I Got Something Like This Too

Post by Omnius »

Deerslayer,
I saved my game one night in version 1.05, just after putting a German pilot in a plane unit and decided to wait until my next session to finish placing German reinforcements on the map. I found an ugly fatal error with version 1.06.

I never received a popup that I had units to be placed that could not be placed. I have two Romanian units to place in Bucharest and unfortunately have two corps there already, plus a division. I can't place my Romanian HQ or reserve unit and the end phase button is not functioning, nor does the key stroke command work to end the phase.

What's really maddening is that I do have the optional rule to allow off-city placement and that is most definitely not working as neither unit is allowed to place in any adjacent hex to Bucharest. Looks like there's a fatal bug with off-city placement and not being able to end the phase via the button or keystroke command.

Dang I'm stuck and I'll have to go back hopefully to a German movement phase where I can make sure not to move units into Bucharest.

Here's a saved game file showing my problem. I hope this helps to get this fatal bug fixed, and quickly.

Really Dang

Post by Omnius »

Dang, I just went back to the last autosave of the German rail phase and discovered my units were railed into Bucharest before this phase. Dang looks like I have to go back to the end of the Mar/Apr 1940 turn and play the whole May/Jun turn over again. Sure wish I could just end the Place Units phase despite having units in the tray.

Yippee Recoverable Error

Post by Omnius »

deerslayer,
Hot Dang! I almost went back a full turn to play the previous turn all over again but decided to try one more thing. I restored the last save of the prior last phase and ran through placing German reinforcements again. This time I assigned my pilot and then immediately placed my reinforcing units. This time the program properly let me place one Romanian unit adjacent to Bucharest and then gave me the popup that I had a unit still to place. I did notice that it forced me to place the Bucharest militia unit instead of the HQ that goes into Romania but I can live with that because it allowed me to end the phase and move forward rather than having to play a whole turn over again.

Understand your frustration and wise to keep plenty of Saves. The Auto Phase type saves have helped me on a few occasions when she crashes too.
