Ordering aircraft to attack

Post by spookyer »

I am trying to vector a harrier to an incoming Ka25. I order the attack but status remains as on plotted course. Why do aircraft not change status to engaging target or something like that, its like you have to plot the course for the intercept yourself, they only change to engaged offensive when they get close?

Can you please post a save of the situation prior to you ordering the attack? Thanks!

Have you checked Ignore Plotted Course under the attack options?

Like the previous poster said. If You haven't checked the ignore plotted course when attacking, Your unit will fly to the end of it's current waypoint before intercepting.

so either remove the course by pressing F3 twice or tick that option if you do want it to ignore it, by right clicking the unit/group, going to attack options, and ticking it.

ok that helps thanks.

I also had a Nimrod I used to attack a surface group. It launched its harpoon but then just kept barrelling in towards the target despite the fact it had no more weapons to attack it with. I had to drop target and give it a course out of there. I thought generally attacks were made and then the attacking unit would turn away and continue its mission (had it assigned to an ASW mission).
