Building Better Construction Ships

Post by Panpiper »

I find that repairing ships in those debris fields takes a 'long' time, which of course keeps your construction ship out of use for anything else for the duration. Devastation Moons and World Annihilators take half the game. Even regular bases as such are not built quickly. I would like to configure my construction ships to build faster and am not quite certain what this would entail.

Do I just need to add extra construction yards to the ship? Is it instead just one construction yard because they are only working on one thing and instead I need to add additional energy plants, weapons plants and high tech plants? Do I need to beef up both yards and plants? Or is it a complete waste of resources because construction ships have a set build speed regardless of their components?

AFAIK it works like this: the plants produce components with a set speed, then the construction bay fits them to the ship with its own set speed. So there could be two scenarios, one where the construction bay outpaces component production. Since spaceports can work several bays with a single plant of each I'm gonna say this never happens. The other scenario is the construction bay can't keep up with component production, the solution on a spaceport being to add more bays so they can work in parallel. But since a construction ship can't do that there is no way to make it build faster other than improving construction bays through research.
