What a mess for the Luftwaffe. Last game it was the Heer that bled heavily in France, this time it is the Luftwaffe. Just way too many casualties for the Germans.
For the record, I think "Case Yellow" was started up and cancelled 11 times before the offensive started for real.
I think at some point, the Germans need to find some rabbits feet, 4 leaf clovers and any other bit of luck they can find. At least the Japanese dice don't seem to be so cursed this game. [;)]

The sickener is that they had the advantage in all three air battles at the start....

The Germans got a load of pilots that turn and so have been able to fill the ranks with dross fighter - but at least its something....
The surrender of Belgium has helped too as the 5-quality Spitfire has had to re-base to blighty and is disorganised.

For the Germans this is their only chance before the Royal Navy get into the North Sea. They therefore send their last two decent bombers (4 and 5-quality Stukas) to Antwerp. The RAF decide to fight again - being out-numbered has not hampered them so far!
And so here we go again - three German fighters and two Stukas against two Hurricanes..
Round 1
10 (DC) The Germans choose which bomber to send through - they go for the 5-quality.
10 (DC) No Allied bomber so no effect
Round 2
14 (DA) Germany decides whether to abort the front fighter or bomber. They choose the fighter.
13 (No Effect).....
Round 3
The Germans are now decidedly in the inferior 3.3:4.4.....
11 (DC) The Germans get their second Stuka through
16 (AA) The front Hurricane is aborted.
and so the air to air comes to an end. No losses for the RAF again, but one disorganised fighter remains on the continent - it all depends on the outcome of the battle for the port city....

Two attacks lined up for this impulse - one in China, on the northwestern shore of Lake Tungting, and of course Antwerp. Gort and Rundstedt provide HQ Support. The Germans cannot risk the odds going down anymore and so fly two fighters and a bomber to Antwerp. The fighters are pretty rubbish so do the British risk it and fly bombers anyway? Yes!! The order goes out to the Blenheim and Wellington squadrons to fly!

Here we go - once again the Luftwaffe have the paper advantage 3.3:2.0. As there are no RAF fighters, the Ju-86 is automatically cleared through.
Round 1
18!! (DX PX) The Me-109c is shot down with its pilot...
7 (AA) The Wellington is aborted.
Round 2
The Germans still have a clear advantage 3.0:2.0 but will it count?
12 (AC) No bomber to clear through so no effect
10 (DC) The Blenheim is cleared through!! This is the most incredible dice throwing!
But is it enough to alter the land attack odds?

2 was added to the German score and 3 to the British so the odds were altered, although the HQ Support must have worked in the German favour as the odds are 2:1.
But before we get to all that, there is the small matter of the Chinese front to sort out. The Japanese armour has still not arrived in theatre and so its the Chinese choice again - and no prizes for guessing that its the Assault table.... 4:1 odds with no modifier.
Its a 10! - what the Germans would give for one of those...
Suddenly the Chinese are really looking a little weak in the south. Mr Chiang needs to pay a visit to Mr Mao and speak very nicely...

And so, with all due respect to the Pacific War, to the BIG ONE. The odds are low, but the stakes just couldn't be higher. The Assault table is of course chosen.
Its a 6. All attackers disorganised but the British lose a unit and the rest either retreat or shatter. I want those units off the continent so I do not convert.

Well this game suddenly got serious didn't it??
The Home Fleet, led by the new Flagship HMS Queen Elizabeth, sails into the North Sea, while two TRS head for South Africa/India to pick up troops from the disparate parts of the Empire.
Meanwhile the Chinese plan is to get into the mountains and stay there!!
Also in the Pacific, the US continues its build up of aircraft and troops in Hawaii.

With no troops left to command, Gort heads for Calais - its up to the French to take over now...
Due largely to the presence of a disorganised Hurricane, west of Brussels, the French abandon Belgium and set up a continuous line along the Franco-Belgian border.

The air war has certainly been brutal for the Germans. At least the ground gains balance the equation. Air superiority looks to be barely held by the Luftwaffe.
From the ground it looks different to 3 German policemen.

Right then, can the Germans clear the way for doing battle with the French?
First off, the disorganised Hurricane has been overrun by a German motorised division. They then bring units up to the border, but the lack of aircraft means that the French should be safe for this turn.

However, there is action in China - a pesky partisan is going to get what's coming to him in the north of the country, while further south, a 3:1 attack against units west of Changsha is being conducted. Umezu provides HQ support to this operation as does the "Ann" bomber.
The HQ support failed, but the bomber did the job of raising the odds level to 4:1. The Assault table is chosen by the Chinese and....
....its an 8. The Chinese Chungking militia and 1st Infantry Division are destroyed for no loss. Dare I say the Japanese attack is gaining momentum?
In the second attack, the Japanese take back the resource lost to the Partisan.

The military defending the city of Changsha must be feeling isolated. Gonna be a rough year in Asia.
