All the above sounds good to me. Um.....do you want me to trigger that theater option about
CW for the Japs just to see how the game handles it?

No, I'm rewriting everything so none of what is there now applies. [;)]

I just noticed that a lot of the US planes get no replacements. I'm searching to see if I have any old saves that I can check to see if the US air units fade out as the scenario progresses. Maybe you can check yours too.

I have a lot of civilians to think of when I consider using Nerve Gas. I'd just as soon not get us started using CW this trip through the scenario.

In the process of checking on a few things online, I've done some light reading on this Operation Downfall/Olympic/Coronet situation. One source said that the Japs weren't seriously considering using CW because of the ramifications. The US was, however, considering it seriously, in order to combat the tunnel and cave systems.

In this mod, so far I'm thinking of making the US use CW if they don't make good progress. Then the Japs will have a percentage chance of retaliating. Then the US has a percentage chance of retaliating - with tactical nukes. Its kind of set up that way already, but some of the events are a little wonky.

Well, how many nukes? Without knowing how many they had at the time of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, i would not go over 2.

Apart from that, historically they surrendered after being nuked two times. I think they would here, too.

I've never used nukes so this is new stuff to me. In the original scenario there was a value of '2'. From what it says in the rule book that means 2 per turn. If its per turn, then the most I can limit it to is 1. One catch is that the chance of the US being given the 'nuclear ok' option is only 30% (13% in the original seemed fairly low so I raised it).

Also, the original design is a bit unclear, but it seems that the idea was that as the campaign gets bloodier and costlier and grosser, the variable value reaches a point where a cease fire happens. At any point the Japs may surrender unconditionally. At some point the Japs may break the cease fire. Its part of the confusion I've had with the event list. Eventually I will either figure it out, or will come to some reasonable compromise.

Sounds good to me. Hey Steve: if you have something else you need to be working on I'd understand. But I do appreciate all the
help you guys are offering. Makes me want to do a better job on the game. I'm not sure but I feel like the Japs are winning.

During the T2 combat phase I took a shot at some Allied ships: good hits all around.

My Naval Attack groups got some good hits on some more Allied ships. 3 more carriers down the tubes.

... if you have something else you need to be working on I'd understand.

Fixing up these little ones is usually more fun than work, so it helps for me to squeeze them in between the big things I'm working on. I generally have 2 or 3 that I am actively working on, with a list of things to do on several others. With you playing it makes it possible, because I don't have time to play. So we are good.

Speaking of playing, I haven't had time to play the last mod of Sicily to Brenner Pass. Maybe when you are done with Olympic you might be interested in trying that one ? [;)]

"...the last mod of Sicily to Brenner Pass." Sounds good. You'll have to email a copy of it to me
as I'm pretty sure I don't have it in my inventory.

Here's the T3 front lines. The Allies have two remaining floaters at the south edge but everybody else has gotten ashore.

Okie dokie.....I've started the combat process because I have already moved everybody and there wasn't anything else to do. In this
action the Jap planes swamp the Allied defenses and sink another four carriers. Plus ancillary vessels.

Here's the T4 front lines: The Americans are trying for the third time on at least one beach. They sail up adjacent to their enemy's
guns and get blasted out of the water. You think they would take on the CDA guns at some point.

Are the US BB's and CA's not even bombarding the CDA guns ? [&:]

Well, I haven't gotten to the US objectives yet, and naval stuff is a mystery to me, but looking in the editor each of the naval formations has 1 objective, as seen in this screen shot. So I guess I will throw some additional objectives on the beaches and see if that improves things.

I have no memory of any combat result that involved some TF bombarding any CDA. There's lots of CDA bombarding TF's though.

EDIT: And I'm in T4 now and I don't remember any INT attacks on my units that move. No interdiction for the Allies means they have
already lost the game. It's that important.

Here's the front lines in T5 just before I execute the combat phase. The Americans are sending more and more troops to each of the
separate beaches and they are starting to pile up as it were.
