[ADDED v1.11] Mission Activation Time request

Post by Gunner98 »

The mission Activation Time is a great feature. I noticed when going back to check on things in a saved scenario, that beyond knowing that the mission was inactive, you cannot tell what time it will activate. When you click on the Activation Time button, the default display is the scenario start time. When building the scenario, you get a [D] beside the mission name (and the whole thing turns red and is in italics). When you go back to the save game, the [D] is no longer there, but the delay time obviously still works.

Request: Can you show the activation time on the mission screen? Perhaps beside Mission Summary?

And/Or: Have the mission start time retained in the Activiation Time button display

Thanks.

Hello, I agree, good idea.

I hope you won't mind, I'd like to add a few suggestions about the feature :
1/ when you have aircraft readying at various stages, you might like to have them all launched together,
in order to achieve defense saturation, instead of taking off as soons as ready (that's for strike missions).
So, you can delay the mission until they are all ready, but you have to compute this.
A checkbox like "start mission when all ready" would be appreciated.
2/ when those aircraft are at different bases, it would be nice if they could be automatically launched so that
they are on the target together for the same reason (maybe rendez-vous somewhere ?)

I suppose that's about TOT ...

What is being described here is known as a 'package'.

I reckon that, without modifying the code, a package can be easily made.

1. Create a Patrol Area or Support Route (latter probably better).
2. Create support mission to go to area or route
3. Assign the various groups of aircraft to the mission.
4. When all are in the area/route - pause, unassign and then re-group, reasign to strike mission.

This in effect creates a marshalling point and allows the strikers to flow to it and then proceed on mission when all are ready. On completion, they can either all flow out back to respective bases or back to the support mission and then back to base (to ensure an orderly flow).

well its better than the current setup but its hardly a full package editor.

definitely will be better when the plans/dreams of a strike mission planner are realised :D
