Can we get South Sudan border added?

Between 9 and 15 January 2011, a referendum was held to determine whether South Sudan should declare independence from Sudan. 98.83% of the population voted for independence. (The results for that referendum were released on 30 January 2011.)[20] Those living in the north and expatriates living overseas also voted.[21] This led to a formal independence on 9 July, although certain disputes still remain, such as sharing of the oil revenues, as an estimated 80% of the oil in the nation is secured from South Sudan.[citation needed] The region of Abyei still remains disputed and a separate referendum will be held in Abyei on whether they want to join Sudan or South Sudan.[22] The South Kordofan conflict broke out in June 2011 between the Army of Sudan and the SPLA over the Nuba Mountains.

South Sudan is at war with at least seven armed groups in 9 of its 10 states, with tens of thousands displaced.[23] The fighters accuse the government of plotting to stay in power indefinitely, not fairly representing and supporting all tribal groups while neglecting development in rural areas.[23][24] Joseph Kony's Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) also operates in a wide area that includes South Sudan.[25]

Inter-ethnic warfare that in some cases predates the war of independence is widespread.[26] In December 2011, tribal clashes in Jonglei intensified between the Nuer White Army of the Lou Nuer and the Murle.[27] The White Army warned it would wipe out the Murle and would also fight South Sudanese and UN forces sent to the area around Pibor.[28]

In March 2012, South Sudanese forces seized the Heglig oil fields in lands claimed by both Sudan and South Sudan in the province of South Kordofan after conflict with Sudanese forces in the South Sudanese state of Unity.[29] South Sudan withdrew on 20 March, and the Sudanese Army entered Heglig two days later.

Lot's of scenario possibilities BTW.

Sudan have quite large airforce (249 aircrafts) with example Mig-29s, Su-25 and Mi-24 Hind attack helicopters.

US operate at least one drone airfield from South Sudan.

Any chance you guys can put in an Essex class carrier like the USS Oriskany. There was talk in 1980's of re-activating it so it would make a fun addition to a what-if scenario.

SAM's do not accelerate fast enough.

I am watching an SA-17 Grizzly with a top speed of 2100 kts which is 4.3nm down range and still (slowly) accelerating past 1300 kts

These things come of the rails and accelerate at 25 - 60g - at burn out, scant seconds after launch they are at max velocity - even those missiles with a booster/sustainer combo - after all most of the work is done by the booster, the sustainer does what it says on the tin.

Same goes for an SA-22, should be supersonic just after it leaves the tube - instead its around 2 miles downrange before this happens...

SA-17 guidance law incorrect

Should be Semi-active homing with Proportional Inertial Navigation. Instead it has some form of hybrid datalink command system going on. And yes it can be buddy illuminated, but by another Chairback, not any old radar providing a feed - which is what is happening in the game... It requires at least one chairback (with a spare illuminator channel) to be active in order to launch (if SARH is correct).

SAMS 'impact' whilst several thousand feet above the intended target.

See this thread for a save (today's post) tm.asp?m=3502362

Run it at one second and allocate SA-22's to intercept the incoming tomahawks (you may need to be in the edit mode and delete the swarm of SA-17's in the air so some tomahawks survive to provide the demo for this).

I have seen SA-3 do this too.

Slight typo: #2743 MGM-6 Bottom Mine should be called the MDM-6 Bottom Mine.

Source is Friedman's Naval Institute Guide to World Naval Weapon Systems.

could we get a Landing Pad for helicopters at airbases? I'm trying to create a helicopter airbase and there doesn't seem to be any pads outside of single unit airbases like landing zones and such.

Hi Baloogan

There should be a single unit Heliport, 100-450m airfield and possibly more that would work.

Let me know if it doesn't though and we'll get something in there.

SA-8b M3 missile

Min alt = 10 metres or 33 feet (if you like). This was the whole point of the 9M33M3 missile, to enable to engagement of sea skimming targets and given the large number of the platforms out there still fitted with either SA-8 or SA-N-4 and the reliance of the west on TLAM class weapons, I would say it should be reflected in the game - source for this is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SA-8 and others.

PS Just noticed that the 9M33M3 from SA-N-4 does go down to 30 feet, so please model the SA-8b the same way.

And there should be a third ship in this class, the Seamus Heaney! (His version of Beowulf is the one I've had the most success with; students actually enjoy it. The guy deserved his Nobel prize just for that!)

Cape-class cutter (USCG and others)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cape-class_cutter

These were retired from the Coast Guard around 1990. Many of these are still active, though, in the navies of countries like Uruguay, Mexico, and the Bahamas. (I suppose they should be added to those countries, too.)

Uruguayan Navy

The João Belo-class is already in the database, but under Portugal. I don't know if any changes were made when the ships were sold to Uruguay or if this would simply be a "housekeeping" addition so that people looking under Uruguay will find the class there, too.

The Cape-class cutter needs to be added, but has already been requested.
