RE: Global War Solitaire
Japan at the start of the third allied impulse.
For that important impulse, the USA have taken a land action with an offensive chit on Eisenhower: this will target Tokyo.
The Britsh have chosen a combined action with an offensive chit: they have supply problem in the Baltic where Cremar moved in the previous. As long as this is not solved, there won't be serious attacks on Kiel and Hamburg.
At this stage, Berlin is not really a target: with the fortifications and air defense, it is still formidable. This doesn't say the British won't try to weaken it. The problem is: who will capture Berlin ?
The Russians take a land action, with no offensive.

RE: Global War Solitaire
In Berlin, the Commonwealth tries a carpet bombing raid. It is intercpeted by some of the few remaining German fighters. The allies use overwhelming force to pass through.

But the raid fails.
One unit would have been destroyed had the German not intercepted.

Hiroshima is engulfed in a wave of flames, but no unit is destroyed either.

RE: Global War Solitaire
The British ground strike Berlin.
They don't have any top bomber available, but the germans have no choice but ti scramble one of their two fighters in an attempt to intercept.

RE: Global War Solitaire
Even though the British did pass the air defenses, the ground strike is not exceedingly successfull. Still, one bomber less will always be helpful.

RE: Global War Solitaire
In Tokyo, the Americans also do a ground strike ; the best Japanese fighter also fails to stop the raid.

And that raid succeeds pretty well! The Black Window is indeed impressive.

The Japanese try to prevent an airborne assault on Tokyo, but they fail in front of the superior F4U-1

Desperate ground support from the fleet.
One bomber will make it through.

RE: Global War Solitaire
And that's it....
Tokyo falls to the combined action of Eisenhower offensive, helped by the strong fleet guns support, and a succesfull paradrop.
The defense provided by the Japanese fleet fails to change the result.
With Tokyo in the hands of the allies, only Berlin remains to warrant an immediate allied victory.
But Berlin looks too strongly held, at least for now, to imagine it could fall this turn.
But who knows ? At the end of the previous turn, it did not look like it would take but two impulses to capture Tokyo!

But the attack on Nagoya was somewhat optimitic.
I had just forgotten that the British unit would not attack with the Brezilian one...
