I was playing a game PBEM, I had a computer issue and ended up having to rebuy the game. Now When I try to start the game sent to me I keep getting cant open game message. I know the versions have to be the same and I believe they are so why am I getting this error. We are trying to start over from first turn and still no luck

Possibilities:

1. One of you has the beta installed, the other one doesn't.
2. You forgot to upgrade to the latest official patch (or the patch didn't take - it can happen - try patching again.)
3. One of you is playing a mod the other one doesn't have.

Ask your opponent to read the series of numbers he has on his intro screen, check it against what you have, and go from there.
