Gmap not working...help

Post by Mgellis »

I'm having a problem with gmap.net. For some reason, it is not displaying maps, regardless of which type of map I use, and is only saying "Exception: Unable to connect to remote server" on all the tiles. Sometimes, it will show the map, or part of the map, but mostly I just get "the blue tiles of death." Does anyone know how I can fix this? Thanks.

Bing maps seem to be ok but the google maps seem to be an issue.

This product connects to other vendors services so it may be out of their control or require updates after the fact.

Google map only works at maximum zoom for me. I use another map to select the area I want, then switch to maximum zoom and google to export the overlay.

Although it also depends what part of the world you are looking at, for example I have found parts of Asia and South West Pacific often have large sections which are simply not covered by the satellites, especially at the higher resolutions. With google I am also guessing it is tied to their other mapping products such as street view and the demand for them. For example I can't really see the street view car making the rounds in the Papua New Guinea highlands or a huge demand for such a service.

You can always check if it is an error with Gmap or the a problem with the actual satellite coverage by opening up google maps, google earth, bing maps etc and comparing. If you get the same crappy coverage or find the gap in both products then there isn't much you can do because it isn't an error with gmap.
