Senario Request

I have a rather boring request for a scenario designer, some sort of good tutorial on the use of airborne refueling, I always have issues planing this part of my missions, have tankers that end up to empty to make it home etc.. This happened to me several times on the Iran vs Israel user made senario (the tanker got stuck in the concave surface of a no fly zone)...

Anyway, some help and guidance on figuring out appropriate refueling for a large # of aircraft would be helpful.

This is actually a pretty good request. How can we (devs) help with that? (ie. in terms of enriching the GUI, giving better feedback from the sim engine to the player etc.)

I believe Operation Black Buck (1982) would make a great air-refueling scenario. Any takers?

This needs to be a joint effort between testers and the devs, to ensure weird situations are addressed.
Refueling is currently ... quirky

I'd love to try a Black Buck type mission (plus maybe something based on this), but I think it really needs more extensive mission planning tools to do it well, e.g. waypoints, time-at-waypoint, action-at-waypoint, as well as partial-refuel as an available action. I reckon it would be very difficult to manage all the refuelling brackets manually.

I'd guess implementing such features would be far from trivial; as it's early days and bug-squishing is the priority, maybe this should be looked at a bit later? Or are you gung-ho devs keen to go at it sooner? [:)]

I another idea besides Black Buck I had, was one of the opening B2 strikes... even those guys refuel... and it seems like pounding the enemy out of nowhere is a cool reward for figuring out how to refuel...

The 1986 "El Dorado Canyon" raid on Libya required extensive tanker support, since the F-111s were based in England and denied overflight rights by France and Spain.

Might be a good choice if you're thinking of making a larger scenario.
