Beta - Nevada Upgrades

Post by jeffk3510 »

I noticed in the 12/42 upgrade, the tower armor for the Nevada goes from 400 to 38.

Is this correct?

Using the most recent beta.

Can post screen if needed.

Thanks.

If there is an error, it doesn't have to do with the beta exe. It would be due to a data entry error.

Which version of scenarios are you using?

sounds about right, to support the top weight changes for the 5 inch DP's and the radars several ships had the towers removed.

there is a technical term for those who confuse the opinions of an author's characters for the opinions of the author.
the term is IDIOT.

I don't know what thinking went into the data for the various upgrades. (It wasn't may area in the development.)

However during modernization while repairing the damage from Pearl Harbor the rather extensive casement system with many 5 inch guns both in the casement and on top (AA guns) were replaced with a fewer number of twin turreted 5 inch guns. The same turrets used on the Essex class and quite a few other USN ships. This led to a redesign of the entire tower structure and gave the ship a tower that looked a lot like the fast BBs.

Looking at the stats for other BBs, it looks like most USN BBs have 375-400mm armor. Only the Nevada gets a drastic reduction. The West Virginia was the most rebuilt of the PH survivors and the database doesn't show the Colorado class going through such a reduction in armor. 400mm of armor way above the waterline seems excessive and would make a ship very top heavy, but it may represent the likelihood of a large caliber shell passing through the tower rather than exploding. I don't know what the thinking was.

It might be a data entry error. I don't know. You might want to bring it up in the Mod forum. If it is a problem it can be fixed in the mod scenarios at minimum.
