Allied Bases Captured

Alor Star, Beaufort, Ternate, Port Blair

Well, NJP said things were going to accelerate. This turn there is a fighter sweep over port blair and I figure I have a couple of days to get the fighters off. By the end of the turn my cargo ships are handing supplies over to the new owners of Port Blair...

DD Thanet was badly damaged in the first battles of the war but managed to limp into Manila harbor and is now in fighting shape again. Going to send her out on a raid and see if I can cause some issues. Luzon is still untouched by any japanese forces. Forces have started moving in Malaya. Java is under assault.

Kendari, Merak

Allied Ships Sunk

DD Pint Hein

Japanese Ships Sunk

DD Asagumo

One of my light cruiser task forces at the end of the thudering herd comes into contact with a Japanese DD force. One destroyer is sunk on each side with 1 more taking significant damage. I think the ship evacuation is winding down. As of today I have lost 96 ships to the Japanese. Considering the volume of territory that NPJ has covered already I think that isnt too bad at this point.

My ships sunk score does not yet reflect that CVE so it might still live.

An armor unit just arrived for transport to CT. Convoys are forming up slowly but once in place will provide an endless supply of food and fuel to Cape Town.

Lots of moving pieces on the map, some I wont get into due to OPSEC, some I wont get into cause it is boring.

Allied Bases Captured

Cheribon, Nanyang

Quiet day in the DEI other than my useless sub attacks and his almost useless ASW retorts. I am extremely happy with the number of sub contacts I am generating but that is pretty easy at this time as I know exactly where his fleets are going. I suspect that shortly it will be much harder to get so much quality time. Unfortunately the torpedoes arent going to start working till 43 so I am not sure what else to do at this point but pray for good rolls.

There is no telling what direction NJP is going to take. I am sure within a few days to a week or so I will have better info. If he backs down that long then he is done as far as AV though. He is going to have to push it to the wall to achieve it and at this point it is probably not possible given the scenario plus stacking limits. If this was scenario 2 I am not sure that I could prevail even if prepared. Forts are headed for 3 at all major cities with good supply and engineers. Not as quickly as I had hoped but this is DBB, not stock so it is the best I can do.

Columbo only has an infantry regiment left that is not completely restricted. The AA Unit and Base Force were bought out and transported to Bombay for assisting in fort building there. It still has about 25K supply and 30K fuel which I want to evacuate along with the troops. Air sweeps happen over Rangoon. Hopefully he starts bombing the airfields. I could use the help in demolishing the place.

Almost all the divisions that can be assembled in India have been. One regiment in Karachi is waiting to be substituted by another force for garrison requirements before moving to Calcutta to form the last division available at this time.

Burma has been a disaster in terms of evacuation as I simply put the troops on move and they really havent. I guess it doesnt matter as they cannot possibly get to Calcutta before a significant event if NJP wants it to happen. They will eventually get to Akyab or Imphal and move from there. I doubt there is 150AV in the 8 or so units I am talking about. The regiment that starts in Rangoon was evacuated to Calcutta on day 4 or so by sea.

My opponent just complimented me on China. I am moving backwards prudently as he advances. He holds the central plains now. China is tough because you dont want to give up too much but you cannot really hold it anyway. I have created a pocket at Wenchow(?) the one that creates supply and is such a thorn in the Japanese side.

RE: What could possibly go wrong? Wargamr(A) vs njp72(J)

I am going to show the status of some areas of the map at this time.

I appologize for my pathetic map skills. I am using Microsoft Image Composer Version 500BC. I need something that makes putting arrows and other items in the pictures easy.

Anyway, from my childlike drawing you can see that the 11th & 12th Indian Mixed Brigades have been having their way with my troops by kicking their butts across the river and now into some rough terrain. I am pulling my troops closer to Changsha and evacuating the Kuokong pocket.

Meanwhile the 20th & 21st chineese Corps have been following the brigades and have shut off their retreat. If he pushes any farther he risks losing both those units.

Near Wenchow I have approximately 1200AV that is going to make a last stand there. No pressure on them yet.

Once he makes a serious push in the Changsha direction I am prepared to pull the troops back rather than risk encirclement.

The MTB or PT boats from Hong Kong that attacked formosa have shown up at Wenchow with 20systems damage. Will see if they can be of any use in the future.

NE China

It looks like NJP might cut some units off in the plains but I have managed to get 1200AV on the road NW of Nanyang and will have over 1000 AV on the dirt road to the west of it. The problem with China is alway the route to Sian and how it is not very defendable relative to other areas.

The plan here is to collapse backwards toward sian and prepare to defend behind that as necessary. Fight on the wooded or wooded/rough hexes and try to stay away from being surrounded.

Palembang Area

He has a bunch of ships massing southwest of Palembang. He has made no attempt to enter Palembang harbor to this point. I have a bunch of crap surface ships in there and I managed to mine the mouth of the river. Maybe he is waiting for some mine sweepers. I am not sure but Palembang remains mine for the time being.

He invaded Java at Kalidjati and took it unopposed but when he moved all his forces southeast the base reverted to Allied control. LOL!! TAKE THAT JAPAN!!! One of those little gotcha moments.

He then took out Merak the next turn or so. I am hoping that he solidifies his position right about now. Otherwise I have a feeling he is getting ready for a quick strike on India. My aggressive naval actions might also have him acting with caution at this point as he does not really have the Java area well covered by air search yet. Either way it doesnt matter, I have conceded the area to him.

Cocos island has 95AV on it and is building. I dont think it has been detected in any way.

The 18th Division is unloading at Diego Garcia.

The Malaya/Sumatra area is almost completely quiet. There is some combat up near Alor Star but otherwise nothing.

I have seen NJP pull a Mersing on Jan 18th of another game. Hopefully if he tries that here the 180AV I have now at Mersing will give him some trouble.

There is about 600 AV in Singapore with another 100 on the way up north with a couple of units. They cant arrive within a week so who knows if they will ever help.

I evacuated/disbanded all air forces because I wanted to save on supplies. I did this for the Phillipines as well.

He would have quickly swept them to death anyway.

NW Australia

The thundering herd continues it's journey to safety. The bulk of the ships have reached the coast of Australia and are proceeding to Perth. Ships with good endurance are taking off for capetown. Ships with about 4K endurance are heading for eastern Australia. Ships with crap endurance are being scattered on the south side of Australia in various ports. He will still be able to kill them but he is going to have to work really hard for it.

If NJP wants Perth there is little I can do to stop him. I have the bulk of my forces defending the Sydney and Melbourne areas and am willing to sacrifice Perth for time. However, he isnt going to get many ships with the deal.

North of Australia

NJP has secured the island of ceram and Timor will fall quickly as the troops at Koepang have been evacuated.

I expect this area to be locked down shortly. The only question is how fast is he going to invade Darwin.

I have evacuated all troops from Darwin and am marching them south. I could not even get any supply to them in time so that was diverted to Suva and the troops were ordered to march because if he uses armor I would never be able to outrun him once he catches me.

The plan for Northern Australia is to give him free reign and see how far he wants to take it. There may be some opportunities later. The farther he expands the more vulnerable he is so I am not in a hurry to stop him.

Allied Bases Captured

Namlea, Lautem, Jesselton, Pontianak, Pingsiang

Another consolidation turn. I think a couple small ships are giving him fits near oosthaven. He cannot get his amphibious task forces to unload due to the threat.

It is going to get quiet for the next week at least unless NJP decides to make another bold move.

One of my subs got beat up pretty badly near Ambon. I dont think it will make townsville.

Allied Bases Captured

Sabang

Sabang fell as predicted. NJP's submarines are doing the job his surface fleets could not do to the thundering herd. He has managed to pick off quite a few stragglers with his subs.

The KB is sighted northwest of Darwin.

Allied Bases Captured

Broome, Wyndham, Makassar, Loemadjang

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house not a creature was stirring except the KB and a million bloodthirsty Japanese...

Maybe because of the Shenanigans I caused earlier but it seems like a mini-KB and the KB are flushing out all the areas I might hide in. The mini-KB is moving up the west side of Java with many surface fleets. I am guessing he might set something up on Christmas Island and probably Cocos Island.

Hopefully the surprise at Cocos slows him down a bit. The size of the fleet might indicate he intends to go further. I think he is going to sweep everything possible to see if he can shake loose a few more ships from the great herd. NJP already mentioned his take was less than optimal.

The KB is sailing west north of Darwin while he is taking the bases on the north side of Australia.

I managed to pull the engineers out of Broome and Port Hedland and move them to Geraldton.

Near Pingsiang in China I have about 700AV that has been cut off by the 2 indian mixed brigades.

My plan is to make it look like I am going to do a counter attack but actually am creating a bridge. I will punch holes in both sides of his hex and march the 700AV through the hex while the Japanese brigades have to decide whether to attack at 1-2 odds or let them escape. If something goes FUBAR in the meantime I have another group ready to march in from the north and bring my AV total about 1200.

I really dont want to try to take him on right now so hopefully I can just evacuate.

Lets see if my sleight of hand works.

Allied Bases Captured

Port Moresby, Terapo, Benkoelen, Probolinggo

My Christmas present came a day late but I will take it. I thought I had 1-2 days until the Cocos Islands came under surveilance but NJP decided to attack before his carrier air discovered what was waiting. Luckily I had 2 Light Cruisers ready for action and it was a bloodbath for the Japanese.

I was having so much fun watching the carnage I became enraged when the commanding officer ordered the Allies to break contact. I was going to courtmartial him but discovered that one ship had no ammunition left and the other ship had 3 road flares. HE COULD HAVE RAMMED THEM!!!
